Does the RS/SS count? It was possible to order both the SS and RS to receive a Camaro RS/SS.

According to Wikipedia about the first gen. Camaro:

"The RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper, RS badging, and exterior rocker trim.

The SS included a 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 engine and the L35 and L78 396 cu in (6.5 L) big-block V8's were also available. The SS featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging on the grille, front fenders, gas cap, and horn button.

However, it was possible to order both the SS and RS package to receive a Camaro RS/SS. In 1967, a Camaro RS/SS convertible with a 396 engine paced the Indianapolis 500."

You can clearly see "LT-1" and "Rally Sport" on the side of this second gen. I don't know the exact year, though. (Now I wish I'd taken a pic of the info card...)

Also, don't forget the Berlinetta trim which ran from 1979 - 1986. In the 3rd gen version, Chevy offered an all-digital interior as an option, but I don't know what that was officially called. Some of the marketing materials called it "Starship" Camaro and that sort of stuck.

Good luck!

Here's some links that might help your research.

Also, 1991-1992 had 2 badged models: RS and Z28 (the IROC-Z badging having been discontinued from the Camaro as the Dodge Daytona took over as the race series car) . The Z28 was available with 5.0L and Z28 5.7L (with specific additional external badging "5.7 Tuned Port Injection"). The 1LE package was of course available in addition to the police package already cited.

In 1992 there was a "Heritage Edition"

And as for "was there any car that was just 'Camaro'"...I'm assuming (though I have no authoritative source to back this up) that all the cars that were designated as model "Sport Coupe" in their option codes, with no other additional model designation like RS or the like, would be considered "just Camaro".

Also, noticed you missed "Berlinetta" from your factory nameplate list.

There were a number of Dealer-mod nameplates in addition to Yenko out there as well, though Yenko was probably the most famous from the "classic era".

According to Wikipedia about the fourth gen. Camaro:

For the 1996 model year, two option packages returned:

The RS (last seen in 1992), an appearance option for the V6 model.

The SS (last seen in 1972), a performance and appearance package for V8-powered cars.

Interesting fact:

The 1996 model Camaro SS was originally marketed as a Z28SS, even the air filter assembly carried the Z28SS logo. Early prototypes had both emblems on the vehicle, as seen below. However, the Z28 was dropped from the name and cars were officially referred to as SS's when production started. The Z28SS logo on the air filter assembly remained on the '96 and early '97 SSs though. It was replaced by a camaroSS logo for late '97 model SSs.

In 1998, I bought my Z28, with the LS1 V8. To me, it was a base V8 Camaro, not a track type of car. The SS was the top dog at the time. The Z28 had 305hp, while the SS had 320hp. It was fun modding and dragging these cars, but I was always into road racing.

In addition to the overlap of trim levels in some years (SS&RS, Z28&SS, etc.) don't forget that most of the special edition packages you mentioned like 45th anniversary and synergy were also available across multiple trim levels. For example a 45th anniversary edition could be either a 2LT or 2SS. If you want to figure out every possible combination for every year you are going to have one giant spreadsheet.

If you are going to mention Yenko, then you will need to mention every dealership that made a special order cars like Berger.

Also like has been mentioned, 1LE is a package not a trim or special edition. COPO being similar in that it is a special order option essentially only dealers in the know were able to get. Most got turned into cars like the Yenko S/C, very few could actually be brought as COPO only.

Yenko and the COPO are on the list. Non GM Camaro's must be historically known. That is why Hennessey is not on the list.

Check this out for the "historically known" dealer mods
