Somebody made a good point that technically GM was also selling the Firebird at the same time for most of those years. It may have stolen a significant amount of sales from the Camaro.

well yeah. that's why it makes no sense every time someone calls for the firebird to return.

As long as it stays in production/sells well I don't care who sells more. Some of the stang guys act like they want the car to take over the world and be sold to everyone by the millions. Not exactly the image I have for the camaro. It would be pretty boring to see everyone driving the same car... Oh look just another mustang... Don't know how many times I've felt that way. |

Even with the firebird Ford sold more. I'd still like to see a graph with all 3 though.

Key takeaways
- There is no shortage of 1964.5 - 1969 Mustangs in this world, and there will be likely plenty in existence until the apocalypse - Ford's Mustang II marketing scheme somehow worked, even though the car was crap - People rushed to buy 2014 Mustangs at the end of its generation life due to either the Need for Speed movie, to get their foot in the door before the 2015 refresh, or for some reasons unknown Also, dumb question: Are these numbers to be believed? Most of the monthly sales reports for the past 5 years show Camaro was in the lead for sales. Then again, these reports were compiled for Camaro5.com and could be biased. |

That graph appears to be by year, not model year, so 2014 Mustang sales are probably mostly made up of 2015 Mustangs. That makes a lot of sense to me. 100k+ people were not rushing out to buy a 2014 Mustang.
