Somebody made a good point that technically GM was also selling the Firebird at the same time for most of those years. It may have stolen a significant amount of sales from the Camaro.

Just like the Silverado and Sierra vs f150. Only Silverado sales are ever quoted most of the time. Rarely is the big picture seen.

As long as it stays in production/sells well I don't care who sells more. Some of the stang guys act like they want the car to take over the world and be sold to everyone by the millions. Not exactly the image I have for the camaro. It would be pretty boring to see everyone driving the same car... Oh look just another mustang... Don't know how many times I've felt that way.

Also, dumb question: Are these numbers to be believed? Most of the monthly sales reports for the past 5 years show Camaro was in the lead for sales. Then again, these reports were compiled for Camaro5.com and could be biased.

Same here, think specifically the late 70's due to a certain movie would be interesting overlay on that graph.

That graph appears to be by year, not model year, so 2014 Mustang sales are probably mostly made up of 2015 Mustangs. That makes a lot of sense to me. 100k+ people were not rushing out to buy a 2014 Mustang.

1979 was the first 5.0 Mustang. I had a Cobra 5.0 with the TRX tires and wheels. It was a cool car in 1979.
