I'll readily admit that if the car required me to take my keys out of my pocket, then I would not even consider buying it. It's standard equipment on non-luxury cars that are 5+ years old.

It's one of those things that there is no going back from, or at least it is for me.

Cars with keys are child's play to steal for every low life with no special skills. Millions of cars with physical keys have been stolen all over the world. Millions...see what I did there?

When key tumblers get old, you can stick damn near any key that has a similar cut to unlock the doors and start the car. I've watched my brother in law use his key to unlock and start someone else's car. The cars were the same manufacturer, but different models and model years. Fun fact, you can also use a screw driver to start many old cars. I'm not saying my brother in law is a low life, he was actually helping a friend who had locked his keys in his car, then showed he could start his friend's car just for funsies.

You can't live your life in fear of what some deviant schmuck might do. If someone really wants to steal your car, they will, whether unlocked and started with keys or a button.

Yea sure, but the keyless is low hanging fruit for the next gen thief vs 2 layer rfid and mechanical key. Hell these days having a manual car is probably the best deterent. Anyhow people are putting way too much trust in tbus easily hackabke tech. My point is it is not even as close to being secure as many would think. BMW said it was not possible, but as it turned out it became easier. Now if they want your ride they ping the chip and done.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I just don't concern myself with stuff like that because as soon as someone figures out a new, more secure way to lock and start your car, there will be quite literally thousands of people trying (and succeeding) to figure out a relatively simply way to subvert it.

Contactless entry is sort of like contactless payment. You feel more at risk because you aren't in direct control of the action taking place, but ultimately, the technology makes you much much safer statistically. It's the same basic argument as flying versus driving. Less control, higher sense of perceived risk, but lower real statistical risk.

I'm pretty sure somebody from GM also made the comment that the Camaro could allow semi autonomous driving in the near future, so time to get comfortable with this sort of stuff. :P

Just need to have your keys/fob in your pocket. I'd assume the Camaro will work the same way.

yes - Camaro works the same way.
