But the headlights? Err, the whole front end, is a flipping mess on that car. They really, Really, REALLY dropped the ball on that. Side looks good, back is pretty good, interior is nice. Powertrains are...meh, almost up to LS3 levels, 10 years later. |

I like it. Still wish they would have gone revolutionary with the design.. This just looks like a refresh of the refresh. Hopefully they will show some better looking colors tomorrow. Those two are about as boring as you can get. Only complaints are that the wing is still awful and the tiny SS badge looks ridiculous and out of place.
If nothing else, this thread provides the lulz on what cars you guys think the 6thgen looks like. Some of you need your eyes checked.

I like it...may start looking at trade-in value.

"oh crap! we forgot the SS badges! we will just slap one here, and heck, we will throw this one down here." -those badges look like an after-thought.

Well this was grossly underwhelming... I will wait for the reveal before final judgment but these literally look exactly like Chaz's renderings. I was really hoping they were hiding something under there.

NICE!
I like. The vents on the hood are cool. I like the new headlights/tail lights too.
Seeing these pics makes me want to go drive my 14 really fast or something.

From DAY ONE, GM specifically said the 6th gen was going to be "EVOLUTIONARY, NOT REVOLUTIONARY." It has been stated ad nauseam for months and months that there were not going to be big surprises, here. It was going to be a refreshed 5th Generation Camaro on a smaller chassis with an updated interior and improved technology. GM stressed over and over and over again we were not going to see big changes in external aesthetics and the major changes will be in performance and interior/technology. How are you surprised by this? This generation has had very little hype at all. Camaro6 has been largely dead and there is a complete absence of large, rolling threads of interest. What's been incredible is the complete LACK OF HYPE surrounding the 6th Generation Camaro. I am never prepared for the complete disconnect from reality of the general public!

Just a casual observation, but almost to man (or woman), the detractors on this forum are all 5th gen owners that end their rants with "looks like I'll be keeping my 2010-15!" I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to hang to their major purchase that they enjoyed and not take a huge depreciation hit a second a time with a new car a few years later. But do you guys really think you are coming at this new release objectively, or accept that maybe, even subconsciously, you don't even WANT to like this new version?
Speaking only for myself, I never really liked the looks of the 5th gen. They looked bloated and heavy, with huge slab side rear fenders, like a fat a$$ on a big boned woman. The front just seemed a little too matchbox exaggerated rendering, like something we used to draw in 4th grade and pass around during class drawn with straight edged rulers. I thought the 14 update was a good step in the right direction. Now, finally, I see the lighter more athletic version with much more proportionate lines that I wanted. I'm in. I don't have a car payment and haven't for several years. I have no compelling reason to try to get another few years out of my last purchase. As an engineer, the new powertrain and other technological improvents are impressive. They made the car I want, or pretty close to it. I think this will be one of the last of a generation of affordable performance NA V8s available for "regular" people. Lets hope the pricing and interior are up to snuff. ...and yeah, I will agree the lower grill "gaping maw" is a little over the top. |

Being that it's still just screen shots from a news site I will just go out there and say I like what I see so far. Enough to cancel my '15 order? No!! But I do like what I see. As far as saying people should be upset about paying money for the reveal tomorrow, I would gladly pay money to go to that reveal tomorrow. They get to see it in person, hear it in person, touch it, play with it, go through it, take detailed pictures of it, and mostly meet the people of GM. I would love to be there even if the car had been leaked weeks or months ago.
I can't wait for tomorrow, and for those people going please take lots of pictures and videos. |
