I guess they dont like HUDs?
HUD is a gimmick, too. If you are displaying critical info with the HUD, why have gauges, a tach and a speedometer in pods on the dash? Redundant.

Not really gimmicky. It's right in front of you and most dashboards don't have a digital speed readout. Gauge on my Mustang sucks and it's hard to tell exactly what speed I'm going at.

Don't get me started. Suffice to say if no one had cell phones, radios, navigation and all the other features that have become common in cars today..you would be right. But that is not reality and there are tangible safety benefits nowadays in not having to look down to read a needle or display.

I think the title of this thread should be "Mustang Suicide Watch Alert" after the 6th Gen is revealed.

HUD is like the radio controls on the steering wheel. When Pontiac first introduced it I thought it was a gimmick. Now they are common and I wouldn't want a car without it. This is my first car with HUD. Love HUD. Shift lights in your line of sight is reason enough

I wouldn't speak too soon. I'm hoping for strong competition. It's good to have, and usually benefits the consumer.

Oh, noes! So because you're inept at reading analog gauges, that negates the redundancy of having dash mounted gauges and HUD? If HUD gives you everything you desire/need, want's the point of having another type of instrumentation?

If that were true, HUD would be required on all cars as part of the federal safety requirements and, who knows, maybe someday it will be.

You can debate me all day, but my opinion that HUD's are gimmicky is not going to change.

I guess that they are gimmicks in fighter planes too since much of the information on the HUD is also displayed on the control panel....

Ah, but it did allow for sharing of aero part costs for the Boss 302.

G-meter is a display in the HUD, no gauge for that, along with the shift indicator lights. Don't have to look down, frikin awesome.

I've had it and it is not a factor in any purchasing decision I would make. If it does not impact my buying decision, I consider it a gimmick.
