Looks like a possible hatch to me.

I love the idea of a hatch on the Camaro, but even I don't think that line implies it will have one. If it did, I would guess that the line would be much further up near the rear quarter window like it is on the Corvette, unless GM just followed the lines in the car, then widened the opening on the decklid.

My fiancee has a Scion TC, which is a normal looking coupe with a hatch. I'm going to study the lines on her car and report back tonight.

Based on those pics of the C7, then there would be another line near the top of the rear window visible. There is none from what I have seen.

if it was a hatch, as it is on C7, the shut line would be all the way aft to the spoiler. - no hatch.

Unless it follows the edge of the glass, sorta like the 3rd gen.

Just playing devil's advocate. I doubt it will be a hatch but I wouldn't be sad if it was.

Not necessarily. The lines could follow the rear glass, then mimic a trunk's lines and go down between the tail lights. They could even widen the opening by having part of the tail light open with the trunk and part fixed on the body.

Again, I don't think that's what is going on here, but it is certainly possible, since there are production cars with hatches designed this way (a la the Scion TC).

By the way, I saw a blue ATS coupe yesterday, and I must say that it was both a nice looking car and a nice looking color. My hopes are raising by the day for the Camaro.

I doubt it's a hatch. It is possible but if you compare it with the 2015 mustang, the lines on the truck are similar than compared to those on the corvette.

What you describe given the size of the 6th gen, would be a large heavy hatch. Not saying it's impossible but I don't believe that would be a good idea.

I think they had to do this because of the longer "almost fastback" slope in the c pillar, in order to make the trunk opening useful.
