I wonder if it'll fit the car physically but in terms of GM putting the engine of an assumed ~100k car in a ~55k car.
Also, it gives me hope that GM is still hiding an engine or two from us.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Chevy use a NA version of a DOHC v8 in the next z28, something in the 550-600 hp range....wishful thinking for sure

I have heard rumors that GM restarted the Ultra V8 program, which was the replacement for the Northstar DOHC engines they used to build. It may be a version of that.

The ultra v8 program has been on the shelf for far to long. Let's hope they get get it into production within the next few years.

Hmmm, the 6th gen ZL1 (provided there will be one), will it still be a supercharged V8 or a turbo (single or twin)???
Or even a compound ? with a small supercharger to start out at the bottom end long enough to get into the turbo's power band?? |

you have you driven a turbocharged car in the last 10 years? turbo "lag" is a thing of the 90s ....

Other than up and coming electric turbos, I find nothing about lag being left behind in the 90's. Quote:

Not sure technically how lag has been reduced (definitely still there in my car), but the use of for lack of a better term "intermediate turbos" have lowered the RPMs for peak boost for most street cars. Never drove a '90's or earlier turbo car, but I heard lag was much worse then.

What I found interesting from the article was no mention of a NA V6 and the possibility of a 560 HP turbo V8. Although 560 is less than the current 580 in the ZL1, maybe a 560 TT V8 might work in a Z/28.
