GM hasn't made or broken a single promise regarding the reveal of the gen6 and has recently offered obscenely low prices on all levels of gen5 with great deals yet to be had. Showing us the car now won't get them into dealer showrooms one day sooner and provides details to the competition early so they can refine where needed for MY17. Patience! Gratitude!

I am completely fine with a New York reveal. If a solo reveal is coming it really needs to be before may in my opinion. They know what they're doing and are definitely going a new direction by keeping this quiet for this long. They did take a similar approach with the Z/28 reveal but as awesome as that car is it's reveal won't quite be of the magnitude of the sixth gen reveal. For every impatient person that's pissed with the lack of information there are two more pairs of eyes still longing to see the sixth gen. All the current detractors will be silenced and the true Camaro fans will rejoice once it's seen, of that I am sure.

head at all the debby downers predicting doom and gloom for GM because they haven't fulfilled all of our needs for a reveal or some specs on the 6th gen. Being faithful is to be unwavering in whatever you believe in regardless of the temptations or distractions. I am an unwavering Chevy Camaro enthusiast for life and that will never change, so that means the good along with the not so good, I'm a keeper of the faith. I believe the 6th gen will be another hit for GM.

I do stock research and the opinion I stated comes from this piece that came across my desk. I have posted this on this forum before the interesting part is this is from a financial report not a car mag! This is just tidbits coming out of GM lately. This is just raw information food for thought.
The 3000 number comes from there advertising that they will only build 3000 units for 2015. Sorry previous post meant 2015"I got this from an end of year stock sales report for a inside GM blog. Interesting reading." 2015 and 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 sales fiasco- a precursor to big discounts on 2015 Corvette C7 Z06? Without any doubt, the latest Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is a huge sales failure for +General Motors .Kudos to Camaro engineering team for making a valiant effort but in the end, it is still just another Camaro, bought by redneck crowd, attracted to low pricing and peak horsepower and torque numbers than track oriented handling and braking. No matter what suspension and brake and aerodynamic aides have been applied to the Camaro, it is still the same overweight land yacht and slapping a $75k on a car that comes up short on power when compared to its cheaper ZL1 stable mate had to end up in a big failure. The outcome is huge discounting of over $20k not just on the 2014 but 2015 model year as well. The funny part here is the fact that in spite of limited production numbers, GM still overestimated the demand, not being able to even sell 1500 of these boats. Is there a lesson here? Of course there is, same one along the lines of another huge sales failure, Generation 5 Dodge Viper. |

I always laugh when I see someone complain about GM dropping the ball because they won't reveal the car when you want them to. Get over it. The car is coming.
You want to reveal a car early? Go start an automotive company.

Not disagreeing the Z/28 was not a good sales idea, but I would like to talk to the guy who wrote the blog. I bet he drives a BMW. Then I would like to show him how the "overweight land yacht" 1LE decimates the new M4 on any given track. Then let's hear the excuses. Off topic, sorry.

I'm surprised that nobody has bothered to look at this from a manufacturing standpoint yet. If this is to be a 'normal' 2016 release then you'd expect the cars to start hitting showrooms in late July/early August. If it takes a month for them to be delivered to states as far as California then that means production would have to start at latest by early June. If special orders are taken, customers should be allowed to do so at least a month in advance, which means we know about the model by early May. This is all speculation of course but if Chevy really wants to steal Ford's glow then they'll have to have the car hitting dealerships in time for summer, i.e., June and subsequently that means we know about the model in April, two months away.
As an automation/controls guy, what bothers me is that a couple weeks ago it was mentioned in an article that designers were still putting final touches on the car which that means someone in Detroit is trying to validate machines for the new line while the design isn't locked in. It might be that the holdup is in the factory, not the design. Either way, I expect to hear something by mid-April. |
