With the OE calibration we (Vengeance Racing) did experience the same thing... The timing tables are EXTREMELY conservative and the ECU will pull timing for almost any situation. I am waiting for owners to complain about "tip in" as the ECU pulls a massive amount of timing when slightly touching the gas pedal

Medisin will have the inside scoop on this, I am sure he will chime in soon. When it comes to false manufacturer claims he is our resident expert.

From the Motortrend article
"were surprised to hear that when Pobst pulled back into the pits after his fourth lap, it wasn't because he wanted to stop. The car had flashed an oil-temperature warning on the back straight. "So I stuck it in neutral and let it idle even though we're going 140 mph,"

This is an interesting topic, I would like to see some of the opinions of say MEDISIN or SEVEN OH JOE.

So as far as I can tell, we have the car that raced the viper that looked like it pulled timing correct? Now we have an article saying the factory tune will cut power to protect the engine. I still personally think it is something like JOE had stated in a different thread. Some sort of break in fail safe untill the car reaches X amount of miles. How many miles do these cars have on them?

GM has been using supercharged engines long enough that I think they know what they are doing.

I noticed this too. MEDISIN is the Camaro5 scribe. He collects and presents data and then draws conclusions. Nothing more. Hopefully he's vacationing somewhere warm and without internet

I for one, can't imagine taking a brand new car with 0 miles and running to the track with it without "break in".

That being said, I'm pretty sure every engine is run up and tested prior to installation in the vehicle, but this isn't breaking it in.

This will amount to nothing other than the "secret" calibration change after break in that has been there all along, including the Camaro is no longer a secret.

The 5.7 Challengers and Chargers have it too. VVT isn't unlocked until something like 3500 miles.

Didn't Motor Trend already take this car down the 1/4 and get a 11.3? Aren't they the ones that never get good stock times lol?

I do believe that those times are pretty much in line with GM's manual numbers no? Within a tenth or two pretty dang good IMO being a stick and all.
