My dad has a 1989 7 series with 170k miles on it. Runs strong, very few problems (he does all the work himself though).
BMW fit, finish and overall tighter tolerances along wtih superior materials will last the test of time without a doubt. |

I have friends with BMWs. They are nice, but I just can't justify the repair costs. 2k for brakes?!

I don't think you can compare the BMW to a Chevy. The ride is way better in a BMW,..but of course, you're paying for it. The new BMW M4 coupe is NASTY!

I had a 1995 E36 M3 with 30k miles (2007). One of the best driving cars I've ever experienced. Wish I had it back.

I tracked a BMW M coupe for nine years, besides tires and brakes, it was flawless. I went with the 1LE because it was cheap HP. In general my opinion BMW 1/3/4 M is a great track platform, no need to upgrade brakes..... to track it, DCT... You pay for it, but in the end, resale is better as well, after 9 years, mine only depreciated $10K. A 1M used costs nearly $20K more than it was sold new. Now that the M4 is a turbo 6, I bet the M3 V8's hold their value for years to come like the last air cooled Porsches have
