No way I could have kept my cool that long. That's ridiculous.

I can offer cable horror stories all day long.

Like the time Cox Cable was going to come to the house to fix my malfunctioning cable. Of course, the best they can offer was a "window" of 8AM to 5PM, and I needed to be home. So... I took a vacation day... one of my five days available that year.

When he hadn't showed up by 430PM, I called to see what was up. "Oh, sorry... he won't make it today. But tomorrow, for sure!"

So... since I had already waited THAT long, I might as well. I took another day off.

As you might guess, the same thing happened... towards the end of the day, I learned that, oops, he wasn't going to make it today, either. But tomorrow, FOR SURE.

So... I took a third day off work. Yep, he showed up... at 445PM that day. No worries, only took him about five minutes.

So, three days of lost wages (well, lost vacation time), sitting around the house, doing nothing. Thanks, cable guy!

(Oh, and yes... I could go on all day long with shitty cable service tales. My experience has been with Cox Cable, and Charter Cable... and they are all the same. They have no regard whatsoever for customer service because, hey... the CUSTOMER wants CABLE, so there is no NEED to offer any consideration or "customer service." Many areas (all that I have lived in) have no competition--- you choose from the one cable service offered, or no cable... so the cable company is just shooting fish in a barrel. No need to be better than the "other" cable company, because there IS no "other" cable provider!)

Wow! Noway I could have handled that as well as that customer did. I will never get Comcast just because of that.

He's a journalist, that's why he kept his cool-- makes for a better story. But yes that was insane.

I've been 'un-plugged' for 2 years now -- have my own media server, roku, etc. Don't miss too much -- I'm too busy anyway to sit and watch 5 channels out of 250 -- (did I really type that)?

DirectTV -- 15 years -- BAD CS @ the end
Dish 2 years -- ok -- prices kept going up, less choices
Time Warner -- just ugh --

Not looking back -- I rent movies I want, use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu-Plus, and other 'roku' channels

SimpleTV for my recordings (I do have a media server)

Been nice with a MUCH smaller bill each month -- about $35 total...

The faster Google Fiber gets into more areas the better.

Comcast has always done well by me for 30+ years. Not happy when they changed over to digital.

"We are very embarrassed by the way our employee spoke with Mr. Block and are contacting him to personally apologize. The way in which our representative communicated with him is unacceptable and not consistent with how we train our customer service representatives. We are investigating this situation and will take quick action. While the overwhelming majority of our employees work very hard to do the right thing every day, we are using this very unfortunate experience to reinforce how important it is to always treat our customers with the utmost respect."

Yep, "We'll be there sometime between 6am Monday and Thursday". Sounds right....
