People forget that the Law or Rights don't apply to cops. They can do whatever they want whenever they want. It's your word against theirs. They can pull you over for absolutely anything, they can make up any reason they want, absolutely does Not Matter if its true or not. They are they law. They can say you were speeding/swevered/failed to do this/that - whatever. A bad cop is a bad cop - period, been there, done that...... You can't win.
That being said; if I knowingly have a violation, such as windows tinted to dark, and I get pulled over. The first thing I'd do is put the windows down. Not to show respect, but to hide my violation. Just seems like common sense. My taillights are tinted too dark so if my radar detector goes off, I check my mirrors, and if he's coming up behind me I immediately turn on my parking lights so my taillights look lit. It's worked so far...... |

The other question I have is why do people hate Police so much. If your not doing anything wrong then your good to go. If they stop you then be courteous. The reason some Police Officers are A-holes to people is because of the a-holes that give LEO's a hard time for doing their job. I have been driving for over 28 years and have been pulled over quite a few times. Everytime I treated the Officer with respect and yes I have gotten a few tickets (I earned them) but most of the time they just gave me a warning. I know there will be people that say a Officer just picked on them and they were doing nothing wrong (which I doubt). Because everyone thinks they are the victim.

But I wasn't. If anything I was much closer to the center line, I was probably a good two feet plus from the white line. And I'm certain when he was just two or three feet off my bumper at 50 mph he could clearly see my radar detector maxed out threw the window, it was 1am, plenty dark so that red light was maxed out. Which probably pissed him off more because he knew that I knew he was hiding trying to catch speeders. But I agree, he looked the car over as I passed by and probably concluded there was a good possibility, 1am/muscle car, that drugs and or alcohol could be found. He was wrong, and arrogant to boot, rookie on an ego trip to say the least. And even though I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong at the time, definitely Not Riding on the white line, had he said the center line, at least that would've been more believable, and when I questioned him on that...... His response of "Are you Calling Me A Liar", I knew exactly the kind of person I was dealing with, no integrity, or morales, and definitely not an honest officer of the law. |

The police have a hard job out there and remember just about anything we do can be construed as a crime. They were checking you out. You may have risen a line, there may have been reports of a dark Camaro in a robbery, they may have just wanted to check if you were drunk or high. In any case, as police they have EVERY RIGHT to do this. That is their job.
When you are intentionally breaking the law with dark tint, grow up and pay the fine. Whatever reason they used to stop you is irrelevant. Correct that tint or you will get a worse fine in the future. My advise to you is always be 100% up front with the police if they stop you. I got pulled over once for 95 in a 65. I had to take a piss like nobody's business. When he pulled me over I told him I had to go and asked if he can follow me to the gas station and can write the ticket while I pee. He laughed his ass off and told me to go take my piss and slow down. Cops are people and usually are very understanding. When you cracked your window, that raised suspicion. I would have ticketed you myself just for being a smart arse.
