There's no true "definition" of a supercar. It's like saying you can define whether a girl is hot or not. What people are calling a "definition" is actually an "opinion."

As for whether a Z06 is a "supercar" or not, who cares? If you like it and it's fast as hell, it doesn't matter what people on the internet call it.

A supercar is a very expensive and fast sports car.[1][2] Supercars are marketed by automakers as unusual and include limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard-looking cars modified for power and performance, as well as models that appeal to enthusiasts from smaller manufacturers.[3]

"Supercar" is also a label custom car retrofitters reserve for their showcase, one-of-a-kind project vehicles; typically these are very extensively modified collectible muscle cars, sports cars or grand touring automobiles updated to the very latest "streetable" racing technology

Even though it has the performance and looks but its not a exclusive limited production vehicle so by the very definition i would say no.
The Hennesey Venom GT now holds this record from just the other day, correct?

The Venom is neither a production car (only a handful are being made) nor did it set any official record (official speed records are the average of 2 runs made in opposite directions, the Venom made only 1)

450 Veyron 16.4's made? What was it like a dozen Venom GTs? I wonder why they didn't just turn around and go back down the runway. Were they running down wind?

I think there has to be something like 30 cars for something to be considered 'production' (which still seems absurdly low to me). Venom is supposedly limited to only 29 units. If the cross the 30 car mark, they'd probably have to deal with a lot more safety & emissions regulations.

Why was there only one run ... I'm not sure. I've heard that NASA only gave them a small window to use their runway & in that time only a single pass could be made. I don't know if they had a head, tail, or cross wind. They couldn't just turn around & go again right away because the top speed isn't measured directly. The car is timed as it passes between two lines a set distance apart. That speed trap would ideally be in the middle of your testing space (in this case, a runway) but they only had about 3 miles to work with, and it takes over 2 miles for the car to reach its top speed, and nearly another mile to get slowed back down. If they could have gotten onto one of the Airforce's runways in the deserts of the south-west (I think one of them is over 7 miles long) or a giant oval or circular test track it would have been much easier to do a quick pair of runs.

Very cool, thanks. 7 mile long runway! Could have some fun there.

If you acknowledge that there is a new series of cars classified as hypercars then I'd say probably (performance to match, but lacking in the ultra exclusive category).

If hypercar is just another made up piece of BS then probably not, while it may perform on a level very very similar to some sick machines, ultimately it's still a Chevy made by some Hillbillies in Kentucky

had to do it..

No. No Corvette is a super car. Super cars are exclusive, luxurious, exotic, and fast. The z06 is very fast and an awesome car, but it is no super car.

Z06 is a very high performance sports car

458 Italia is a super car

LaFerrari is a hyper car

if Superman really existed, and there were thousands just like him, would he still be super?

Nay, I say. He would only be above average man

I kinda consider those "hypercars"
