I don't have the smart or 3d, but if I did, i would hardly use it. Have play station for Netflix. Imo, it's a crazy up charge for something I wouldn't use.

Really when buying a modern TV it is a little more difficult to actually find one that isn't smart. But if you guys are planning on continuing with Xbox Live there is no point in the smart TV since the Xbox can do all of that. Personally I probably will end up with a smart TV since the specs I am looking for only come in the Smart lines.

I don't really understand 3D TV's. it's supposed to only work with glasses and certain programs or blu rays that are 3D, but my brothers has such amazing separation no matter what he has on.

I have a Vizio and a Samsung. Both are pretty nice.

Yeah, as Jewel said, 3D would be a waste for me. lol

no, I've just been looking online. smart tv isn't necessarily something I want, but it comes with the tv, and the price isn't too bad. not sure if there is one that's not smart.

the price is about the same. might be a little cheaper for the 50".

I prefer Samsung as well, but seems vizio has come a long way. always see good reviews.

One thing to note is a smart tv has a more hefty processor when compared to their counter parts. That can translate into better refresh rates since HDMI at is core is a binary technology.

Also what I think Redemption was that all diodes are created equally so some will naturally respond to changes in frequency quicker than other. So in English less money has the potential to yield a leggy picture. But with a manufacture like Vizio and samsung when your looking at the smart lines I doubt you will need to worry about that.

ok, so I looked at Samsung, for the exact same specs as the Vizio, minus the "smart" aspect, I can get a 55" for the same price as the vizio 60".

i'll have to go to best buy, and see if I can tell a huge difference between a 55 and 60, and the different brands

In that case I probably would do the Samsung. We have a 55 LED Samsung and while it's a little over 2 years old now it still looks great for the few times we actually use it.
