One thing I've noticed especially with squats(one of my favorite lifts) is that when you go heavy and reach parallel or lower you tend to curve the lower back, it's almost unavoidable, I think they call it butt wink or something stupid like that. You can get away with it for a while but it catches up to you and can cause lower back pain. Hope it's something a little rest will take care of. |

So my wife and I were removed from planet fitness LOL mainly due to the wifes attire and her "I won't take your shit" attitude! Started in another gym. Legs are crushed!!!

I'll be starting tomorrow. Supposed to wait until the end of the week but I'm ready. Still have some swelling in the area of the new patch so I won't be doing any deadlifts or anything that engages the abs for a while. Think I'll be doing upper body only and mostly bench work.

Well in a round about way I didn't want to pay the cancellation fee nor stuck in the year long contract cause it is such an awful gym. So I wrote them the following letter to get out of it all. It's all spot on true. But if the wife's not happy I'm not happy lol
Feb 10 at 10:58 AM To whom this may concern, My name is Craig member # 26505 I believe. I was working out in the Essex Junction establishment with my wife Anna (who's member number is 26498 her EFT is drawn off the same account). I am writing to notify you I am cancelling my memberships. I have only been a member at your establishment for 3 months. You front desk employee apparently had a hard on for my wife and chose to speak to her several times about her attire. Once being about her shirt coming up 1 inch above her waist band and her midriff being exposed while working out. This would have barely exposed any skin as she bent and flexed. It should also be noted that another woman was working out at that time was wearing a shirt that had the sides completely cut out (cut off) with her sports bra exposed along with her sides and midriff. This was explained to my wife that no one should have their stomach's exposed as people found this to be uncomfortable or intimidating. The employee stated that she had watched my wife the entire time she was working out and that her shirt did not simply come up. THIS ALONE IS EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CREEPY. My wife pointed out that a woman was just wearing the cut off but the employee was oblivious to this fact. Your employee should have addressed this immediately instead of finally getting up the gall to tell my wife about her attire as we were leaving. This was explained to her that this was a rule. If so this would have been something that was pointed out to us upon signing up. I on several occasion wore cut off T-shirts that had entire sides cut out so that the hole exposed my entire side from trap to waistband. Once again I compete and weigh in at approximately 200lbs so if anyone was to be intimidated in that atmosphere it would be by me and not my 115lb wife. Once again I have never been confronted or told that my attire was inappropriate. While I understand the mission statement of your company and not making people feel uncomfortable, your employees appear to aim to make others feel uncomfortable. The second time my wife was approached was when she wore a cut off just as I do. She was once again approached AT THE END OF HER WORKOUT about her attire by the same individual. My wife exclaimed (I'm sure with colorful vernacular) that the rule was bias. The front desk girl once again pointed out this rule. My wife asked to see these rules. Nothing on the form that was given to my wife states she CANNOT wear a cut off tank top nor have her midriff exposed. My wife gladly stated there is nothing on the sheet about this "rule" and that until it is in writing she is not going to abide by it. The fact that my wife is now uncomfortable in your establishment is the reason we are not coming back. This whole heartedly is due to YOUR employees making her feel this way. I am certainly not going to be comfortable working out in your establishment by myself. I understand we are not your dynamic of people you want participating in your facilities but we are not "Meat heads". We do not grunt, bang weights, or stand in the corner and poke fun at people. I have currently notified my bank you are no longer to remove any funds from my account as you are no longer authorized to. You can check my last check in date as we have not returned since. Thank you for your attention in this matter. |

thanks for the encouragement, when I used to body build back in the late 80's and early 90's I was a work out warrior, was known for my intense two and a half hour work outs. lot easier when your in your 20's. my educational background was in exercise physiology and athletic training so you would think it would be easy for me but it is not. I work in banking now(I know-crazy) and the knee pain makes it hard to get through the week. once the weather starts to warm I will be able to with stand the workouts much easier. I need to make hay during the spring and summer and get some weight off. hopefully by april I will be back at it. Man I miss working out like I did back in the day!

Got back into it a bit today. Bi's and tri's. I have made a habit of always keeping my abs tight during any exercise and I can definitely feel that I am far from fully healed. Quite sore in the area of the surgery but nothing that would lead me to believe there is a problem. Think I'll keep it down to 3 days a week and upper body only for a while. I'm kind of rushing things a bit so I'm going to go slow. With that said, man I love vein popping pumps in my arms.
