That looks great
![]() Anybody have any clue as to what type of MPG's I should expect from this? Think the gas engines will be anywhere near the same as the Diesel? I would assume highway mileage would be deep in the 20's. Am I dreaming here?

I drive a 2006 Colorado 4x4 crew cab with the inline 5 engine. Basically the least fuel efficent version of the truck they made at the time. I believe it is rated at 20 - 21 Hwy. Well, I'm lucky in that I have a fairly "fuel friendly" drive to work each day that consists of probably 60 - 70 Hwy driving and a few short areas where I can just coast along. In the warmer months I managed multiple fill ups where I averaged around 19MPG. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Needless to say I'm pretty dang happy with that. Now that its cold out, I seem to be in the 17mpg average range. So in my mind, the new truck, with the more fuel efficent engine, and more fuel efficent transmission, and with less wind drag...I would fully expect a 2015 crew cab 4x4 V6 to get at least 23- 25 mpg highway, and I would suspect on my same type of drive to return at least 20 - 21 mpg average. Now for trips that are more city type driving, I'd suspect to be in the teens. 2 wheel drive V6 versions will likey get mid to upper 20s and the 4 cylinder should surely get at least upper 20s or better on the highway. I think the diesel will be fully capable of 30+ mpg highway.

so, lets say i would need a truck to tow a camaro halfway across the country once a year, if that. Would a colorado/canyon be a good fit? or rather, could it handle it? I'm thinking a crew cab 6' bed is all i really need, and don't plan on carrying a ton of stuff in the bed. 4x4 would be nice, for the desert too.

The 6700 lb capacity is for the LFX. The Duramax might be what you're looking for, but that won't be until MY2016.

Do you think the engine/drivetrain or the truck frame geometry will determine the towing capacity?

According to the vehicle line engineer, the towing capacity will go up with the Duramax.

Nice!
![]() Now I just wonder if the limiting factor will be the drivetrain or the truck frame... Do you think the turbo-diesel power output will be considerably higher than the LFX?

Horsepower will probably be down but torque will be ridiculous.

All that said ... I wouldn't want a gross combined weight of roughly 10,000 lbs (truck, trailer, car, me & my stuff) being motivated by a mere 200 or so hp, diesel or not. Substantially less. In other markets, the diesel is 200 hp, 368 ft-lbs. Should be roughly the same over here, though probably a touch less due to stricter emissions requirements.

edit: would just be nice to have a daily driver truck that gets decent MPG, and can tow a camaro.

I'm not a truck person, but I could see myself driving this. Personally I hate trucks, because they're so high off the ground and big, but this looks smaller than the other GM trucks I've seen. I'd buy if the need ever came up for a truck.

was at the 2014 Houston Auto Show and I have to agree that in person this small truck looks freaking fantastic! Cant wait to see what the diesel puts out as MPG.
Why wait, here are some pictures I took today at the 2014 Houston Auto Show, enjoy .....
