You could take pictures of the area that he gives on the ticket and show the posted speed , and where you were pulled over and where the officer came off the side street and measure the distance and try to prove he did not pace you, though he was stalking you as he had been keeping a eye on your Camaro. The thing is here in Oregon you can only get a fine reduced 25% as they love to make revenue, so going to court is worthless and costs you money compared to going to work, ( a person could get 50% or more off before this obamacare nightmare/ recession happened and they tightened thier belts). The thing is you will loose, they are weighed heavily in favor of the police and the judge knows you are fighting it costing the tax payers money to make the cop show up in court, and the best chance you have is if their is a mistake such as time date or location on the citation etc......... Then it gets thrown out. Standing on your principles matters nothing or your reputation, your just one of many and a supposed opportunity to stand before a non prejudiced judge is a joke. Take it from a guy who works in corrections, and has been caught in speeding traps etc..... Police are looking for revenue, they will stalk you in unmarked cars damn near harassing you to get a ticket, they will hide behind bushes waiting at traffic problems waiting for cars to try to go around it by using the turning lane while they ignore the problem, they will hide at the bottom of a hill knowing that people have one chance to pass a slow moving vehicle when they leave a town or be stuck behind it for ten miles...... These are what have happened to me a long time government employee, disabled army vet .......... I can not get out of a ticket and sure as hell lawyers are nothing but a waste of money. Last ticket I got.... A scale ticket......up in Washington they have scales underneath the road and calculate how fast you were going over a section of road and take a picture of the back of your car....never even knowing you were in a speed trap. Pay it, save yourself the hassle, that's what they count on.....Life is not fair.

Yes, police become police just to make revenue! Oh and make your life hell!!
Take traffic school and get it taken off. Don't "turn off to see if the police are following". That makes you suspicious and hell yes you'll be pulled over! Your tag says where you live..... You turning into a random neighborhood after spotting the police officer seems odd. I don't care what kind of story you can make up. NEVER go to court and say "I was only going 29 in a 25". Because you are then guilty of speeding. How do you know you weren't clocked with radar?? They do work just the same when the police vehicle is moving.

I'm getting very tired of hearing this from uninformed people. Police are not "looking for revenue." Police are doing their jobs in an effort to keep the roads safe. A carpenter does not cut a board because it makes his employer rich, he does it because it is what is expected of him. Officers are simply trying to fulfill their job expectations so they can continue their employment and keep putting food on their own table. Most municipalities do not receive much, if any, revenue from citations, and not nearly enough to pay the salary of the Officer who issued the citation. We do not work to generate revenue for our cities/counties/states. I'm sorry that you feel that being a long time government employee, disabled army vet means that you don't have to obey the laws. I am very grateful for your service to this country, but it does not get you out of the responsibility of following the speed limits, obeying lane restrictions or any other laws in general. I have found that when it comes to traffic citations, life is often very fair. I have tagged rich and poor, intelligent and, well, not very intelligent. The easiest way to avoid a traffic citation is to drive within the laws...

When someone chooses to disobey a law, or violates a law because they were not familiar with it, there is a responsibility that individual should take for that situation. It is not the Officer's fault that someone violated the law and received a citation. It is a driver's responsibility to know the laws and drive in accordance of those laws. If more drivers did their jobs, I wouldn't need to do mine.

Exactly!! And I never said I agreed with every law but they are there for a reason. Tint = visibility issues and officer safety. Speed limits are pretty damn obvious. And I'm pretty sure those are the only ones we've even discussed? Other than pot and I never said I agreed that it should be illegal I just see why it is.
98% of the officers I know don't enjoy writing tickets. It's part of the job they are told to do. I bet if officers weren't actively running radar and all that people would complain they do nothing until someone calls 911. Plus most of the most dangerous people are caught because of traffic stops

The old turn in to the neighborhood trick didn't work eh? Smokey will hunt!
You should be able to consult a lawyer for free, one who works in that district, and get a good idea of what you're in for. There is street law and there is traffic court and they are often 2 different things. If you want to fight that ticket talk to a lawyer that works in that court. |

I'm not going to fight it, because I know I was speeding, although it wasn't 40+ that he quoted... So I really can't fight it, I know it was a huge mistake turning into the neighborhood to dodge the cop. It was my first time being pulled over... >.> You learn from your mistakes lol. Just going to take some traffic school and get the ticket removed and watch my speed from now on.

This gal been on here defending every law known to mankind , I wasnt really referring to traffic laws though some are BS , seat belt laws like speeding in the middle of nowhere , parking on city street after 2.00am , tinted windows , loud exhaust as the Harley drives by with no Helmet ,etc, , Now if you want I will go into laws made by corporations that have bought off politicians ,but really don't have the time to inform you on this, Couple of examples of bad laws , throwing people in jail and fines for drugs , While I do not endorse drug use as adults shouldn't people be able to choose what they want or do not want to do? These laws were made in the 1930's are outdated and were made by a guy who did not want to convert his plant from a wood/paper plant to a hemp paper plant . What I was referring to as this gal knows and defended the laws and reckless spending of $ and human resources /prisons for something our last 4 presidents have admitted to using , This money could be spent on other much needed things . And eliminate all the drug cartels , How about the gun laws where it is only OK if you give the government $200 to buy the gun you want ? Is it not my right to own what I want , Can I sue the police department if I get injured or or my loved ones by a intruder ? Of course not it is not your job to defend me , So why are we limited in what weapons we can buy to protect ourselves and loved one's ? , Read up with what Monsanto has done to our food system and the laws they have passed by bought off Politicians, Among almost every big company in the US. Last thing I say is . Who will guard the Guardians?

Again where the hell have I supported any "BS laws"????
I said around here people don't get thrown in jail for smoking. Granted we've had an idiot arrest a girl for DUI for being high on weed but that's not something I would do unless she caused an accident. I have dark tint.. I just don't like it on windshields. Yes I'm a police officer. I RARELY write tickets that aren't fixable. I do write for driving suspended and sometimes for DUI (have to when I take overtime shifts for DUI patrol and always will if it's their 2nd DUI). I stop cars to find worse things than simple traffic violations. I can't stand a thief and love finding stolen cars or other items. Would I have pulled OP over? Yup! Would I have written him a ticket? As long as he was respectful nope not for speeding. I've written 3 speeding tickets in 2 years. One I wrote as open docket so only goes against her if she gets another ticket (she was going 32 over). One told me to write her and let her go on with her business :shrugs: ok. I've never even written anyone for having shake or a smoked blunt or anything like that. But keep on trying to stir that pot there big boy. I do my job and haven't had a complaint yet.
