It appears you can. There is a option for "crew" only multiplayer..... Haven't been able to try it yet though.

Just to throw it out there im one of the lucky few that have had no problems at all connecting to online. If you have any questions ill be sure to answer from my experiences.

What i have Noticed so far...

There IS a passive mode. In this mode You can not shoot any other player and vice versa. From what i have seen you can not rob stores when this mode is activated. You activate this mode by holding down the Back/Select button and scrolling through the menu till you find Passive Mode. I honestly can't remember how much it cost. Either 100 or 500. Reason I cant remember is because of the price to Kill your self is either one of those also

There is a certain point at which you can call a npc to setup Bounties on other players. Someone causing you problems? If you have the cash put a large enough bounty on their head to entice some payback

You have the ability to claim a low - medium tier vehicle as your own by going to Los Santos Custom and installing a tracker. You can also buy insurance for your vehicle if it gets destroyed and just pay a small fee to get it back. The perks of having your own vehicle are being able to choose who can drive and ride in it even when your not around and the convience of having a vehicle nearby after doing missions.

There are Several types of activities to participate in around the map. They show up as various blue icons. For example, Deathmatch, Survival, Races, etc.

On top of these activites you will have different story npc's calling you with Job offers that they need accomplished that you can do for cash

Wearing a mask during a robbery of a store can help with the escape. Once you are out of sight you can remove the mask to remove one wanted star.

After robbing any store you can decide how to split the winnings.

You dont have to worry about running around with cash on hand if its UNDER $5,000. If killed you will only drop $100. Any amount you are carrying over $5000 you will drop the entire amount supposedly. Reason I say this is I havent got caught with my pants down so to speak.

Holding the Back/Select button is a godsend when it comes to navigation. A menu pops up and your able to lay down common waypoints on the fly. Examples are ATMs, Gun Store, Custom Shop etc

I am currently level 15 and Just unlocked the ability to do Survival Activity

Leveling is pretty straightforward. Anything from killing enemies on a job to escaping the cops gets you a bit of experience

The small jobs I have done so far have taken us into another instance. Meaning it was just us on the map no other players. After completing we would be put back into the world with other players. I dont know about heist seeing as it hasnt been unlocked yet. Currently trying to save money to buy an apartment

Well its seems my prediction of the Online not working is coming true just tried it again and now I wasn't even able to create a character it just gave me some bald headed chick with glasses and it still gets stuck on the launched session screen so yea it might work by this weekend but not today and probly not tomarrow either this is a pretty big mess up for Rockstar IMO three days and no progress on getting people online I hope it doesn't last two weeks cause my interest is waning and I don't want to have to battle people who are 20 to 30 levels higher than me with better weapons cause some how they are able to get online. The only reason I bought the game was for the awesomeness of the trailer for the online part I hadn't even preorded the game before that.

I had the same issue last night as the first night. I hope they plan to do a character wipe. Its pretty crappy that people are able to scale the leaderboards while others cant log in.

I was finally able to get online last night as well. I had a blast leveling up to level 5. However it does suck when you just get done at the Barber Shop and someone just comes in and caps you! LOL!

I really don't pay attention if other players are higher level up. no matter how early and how long you play, there will always be people better/stronger than you. oh, and supposedly, you get spawned in a world with people around the same level as you anyway.
