I have a $40k car. I'm modded and capable of 160+ mph speeds. I don't own a radar detector, and haven't since 1993. I haven't had any tickets since 1997.

Radar detectors are a joke. Knowing when and where to stretch your Camaro's legs is key. Don't be a douchebag and all will be fine.

OP, sorry for your troubles. I had my Porsche impounded on a BS parking issue. I got it back scratched by a gritty, muddy glove from the tow truck operator. I feel your pain. Good luck.

The few times I was in Canada speeding was not a problem. You had to have your seatbelt on but you could speed your little heart out. Funny thing was my friend Moe was driving as we crossed the boarder into N.Y. And do you know what the cop said? You guys are not in Canada any more as he gave Moe a ticket for 89 in a 55.

Thanks for your story. Your mentality puzzles me.

You couldn't out run a guy on a horse? Must have a V6 under the hood of your Camaro!

Totally kidding...could not resist. Advise: Obey the law - or at least stay a little closer to the posted limits. Sorry.

Radar detectors saved me many times. These cops nowadays are used as a source to make money not help us. They go to extremes to hide and hand out tickets. Knowing where in when is the key but why not use protection and pull out? You're just saying pull out and lots of mistakes were made that way haha.

Here in Washington the speed limit is the speed limit even if you are passing. If the speed limit is 70 and you get behind a vehicle doing 60, you can accelerate to 70 to make the pass and not above. We have the power, but not always the smarts.
A lot of people have been killed because they THOUGHT they could make it. Always expect the unexpected. If while passing, a deer runs out in front of you while your going 100mph and you lose control, how many more folks will you take with you?
The OP admitted he learned his lesson here. The plus side is everyone is alive.
