I like the comfort and feel of my Camaro just as much as my ex's Mercedes C300. I thought the C300 was kinda stiff.

For the love of.... The camaro is not a muscle car. its a pony car. Specially the guy's 2ls. Thanks to regulations nowadays the srt8 392 is as close to muscle car as one can get these days. The lack of true muscle cars doesn't bump up the pony car up a notch by default. Doesn't work that way. That being said, comparing the way different cars is crazy. Hell the wife's '13 fusion feels more comfortable than the camaro. Doesn't mean I'm going to trade cars with her anytime soon though...

I had a 09 C300 as my DD, bought it brand new and traded it in January for my SS. Just way different cars. The MB is great at what it does, comfort with some power, good fuel mileage, great handling and ride, etc. The car is just no fun. That being said I loved that MB but wish I would have gotten my SS sooner

I went from a 2010 Camaro SS to a 2008 BMW 750I and I honestly cant wait to get into a 2014 Camaro. I HATE this luxury feel and all these useless gadgets! I need my pure muscle back!

I always get a kick when people quite Wikipedia as fact. Anyways the challenger, mustang, firebird and camaro started the pony car class to go with the charger, torino, gto and chevelle ss muscle cars. Like I said, that those cars are gone, charger turned into a 4door sedan, didn't automatically bump the pony cars up a class... Edit: I forgot the amc javelin to go with the rebel machine. I think Oldsmobile was the only one who didn't make a pony car to go along with the 442. Point is they don't "fall" in the pony car class. They created the class along with the mustang and the others cars mentioned... Last edited by invaderzim; 07-01-2013 at 01:48 PM. |

very nice ride Then drive an actual dinosaur-era muscle car from the 1960s and compare that to your Camaro

Some how I don't think the GM engineers used as Mercedes as one of the Camaro's benchmarks

Regardless, his question still stands unanswered. What makes those cars you mentioned muscle cars? Horsepower? Chassis size? Cubic inches? |

It looks that way. But the link to his quote is from wiki.. and that same page pretty much answered his question. The sentence after the one he quoted actually starts of with "a large v8 is fitted...." And to top it off the same page he quoted has a list a couple paragraphs down of manufacturers and their pony cars next to their muscle cars. Same cars I had mentioned. These aren't large v8s. A large v8 fitted into a midsize frame intended to go fast and straight is a muscle car. Descended from the hot rods. I don't count the Shelby or zl1 as a blower will make even a v4 fast. Like I said before the 392 challenger and the 7 litter z28 might arguably fall into muscle car category. But not a v6 camaro. Regulations did away with the large v8s. Just like they're about to do away with these v8s. True muscle cars are long gone.
