GM Trademarks Two LT-Series Engine Codes

It would appear as though GM recently trademarked two engine codes.

LT5
LTX

Discuss.

I would guess that the LT5 is the new supercharged v8 for a c7 z06 , and the LTX is most likely a crate v8 engine similar to the LSX.

Well, since LT5 was used for the 1990 ZR-1, I'd say that's likely, AZCamaroFan.

LT5 goes in the ZR1
LTX maybe the iron block they sell.

The question is, will this LT5 be DOCH like the last one?

that would be nice if they brought back the LT5 as a DI DOC engine. Talk about power

It was mostly a joke. The DOHC LT1 wasn't even designed or built by GM. I doubt a DOCH engine would even fit in the new Corvette.

GM owned Lotus when they had them engineer the LT5 but yeah that is like apples and oranges I know. Do you know why the LT5 only had 370 HP instead of 400? It was because GM wanted the engine to stay on the same bore as the original small block and would not allow Lotus to expand out the bore centers to 4.55 inches.

I would expect it to have a 3 valve pushrod design before DOHCs
