Thank god. They've devoted more than too much sports center screen time to this train wreck all season. Knowing espn, that won't necessarily stop now that they've lost, but this is a small consolation...

Well, it is the number two media market in the country...there was a compelling story of them making the playoffs without Kobe. And, even to be in that position with the hole they dug themselves into early on in the season. Injuries did them in, though. Good luck to your team, if you have one...see you next October!

According to his twitter Howard wants to come back next year. This season's roster was the most expensive mistake ever if you ask me. Such high hopes, too...

Going in, I thought about the failed year they brought in Karl Malone and Gary Payton. It was the same thing...too old. By bringing Nash (who sat more than he played) was not worth it. Howard has (or had) commanding skills. This year he looked WEAK. He's in his prime! And dare I say...I'd rather have Marc Gasol than Pau right now.

Man I've been over Pau for the last two seasons - the guy just runs out of gas!

I really had high "let's bring it back to the Shaq, Kobe, Fox, Fisher days" hopes with this lineup, but we stumbled out of the gate and just kept stumbling. The Mike Brown debacle didn't help either.

Nash was one of my favorites in the league back on the Suns, but I think he might just be getting too old...

I'm late commenting on the 1st Round Series that ended last week, but if Kobe wasn't injured, the Spurs would not have "Walis, Walis" them (as Jalen Rose said). The Lakers just simply didn't have team chemistry all season. At first, when I saw that they had signed Nash and Howard, I was thinking that this team was "stacked"!! But, my, how the wheels fell off so quickly! At least the 04 Team made it all the way to the Finals. Definitely time for L.A. to start rebuilding....In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the Playoffs!

rj, I was excited too...then I remembered how old Nash was. Game two he broke his leg, and wasn't the same since. Pau went out with a foot problem. Metta went out with a knee. Howard went out with a shoulder. They all come back, and Kobe ruptures his achilles. What a nightmare season. I'm glad they limped into the playoffs, but that sweep wasn't good. And...the Clippers are out now too. What will we do in SoCal?

it just goes to show you can't predict what will happen. when they brought in Nash and Howard everyone reacted like they were going to win a title or get to the Finals, but buying high priced veterans doesn't guarantee anything.
