I won't touch HP unless I'm forced to use it for work. I prefer the Dell XPS series, plenty good for my uses, running virtual boxes with backtrack5 while still doing stuff on windows. Alienware is good too, although Dell did buy them if you're against Dell. Origin and Asus are also solid. Get an extended warranty, it will replace most problems you have. Battery, can be replaced withing 12 months, so at 11 months, tell them it sucks and the performance died.

Happened to me. I am a person that has a Mac Book Pro, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 and i can tell you right now this will be my last Mac for a while, Probably be my last iPad, and probably my last iPhone. This is my just my opinion just saying that a few months ago i supported Apple but that has slowly been going away.

Seriously. I lived with one for almost three years. The honeymoon period was awesome. Then everything went downhill from there. Slow as hell, zero battery life, compatibility issues with software, ridiculously expensive repairs/software/hardware.

Look at other manufacturers. Not only will you get a better value for your money but you'll get an all around better computer.
I dont know about that i've had problems since day 1

I agree with you on the iPhone. Androids are just more versatile

SSD is just going to improve your boot, write and run speeds. It's not going to increase normal tasks all that much, opening larger programs will be slightly quicker, but nothing too big.

You'd be fine with a 500 ish HDD for everything you need.

Yeah, it's all fun and games till you find that they are screwing you every time they release a product.

Not really true.. never had an issue with HP, other than I had a loose hard drive that i fixed myself..

We have had 4 HP's in the last couple of years, mine are the ones that get used all day everyday.. I've had had an EliteBook 8540w and now i've upgraded to the 8560w and haven't had trouble with either one.. they get thrown around all the time and completely abused as far as running things on them.. no errors to date.

Your experiences have been better than mine. My two HP's both crapped their hard drives in the first year. Keyboard failure on one of them. At least they all were covered under warranty. But with how much I baby and pamper my electronics, I am pretty darn certain that none of this was my fault. And after a company fails you twice, you kind of lose all faith in them. Maybe I am treating them too well. I'm going to start throwing them around and see if that prolongs their lives.

So you had a two year on it essentially? Or was it just the 1 year it came with? I always do the max, 3 or 4. Then again the laptops I build aren't going to be outdated after that time period.
