Interesting insurance question.

In auguest of 2011 I was in an accident. Basically I was in a parking lot and sort of traveling in the direction cars park, driving through the travel lanes.
I was personally in a rough spot, no job for a good period etc so mind was not in the right place as I was heading to a job interview.

Anyway I drive across travel lane passing a parked car, unable to see any cars moving toward me in travel lane and I was hit.
Insurance determined I was at fault(even though I swear she never got on the breaks, but whatever).
My insurance that year went up very slightly but geico has continued to raise it every year since with no cause but "thats how your region is rated right now," no tickets, accidents nothing.

naturally, doing the smart thing I shop to try and get better prices and came across 21st century.
When they ask about car accidents they don't word it as "at fault accidents" or who was to blame. They offer four options.

"your insured vehicle hit another vehicle"
"Another vehicle hit your insured vehicle"
"Your insured vehicle and another vehicle collided"
"your insured vehicle collided with a fixed object"

Now, in the stricted sense of the wording I was hit and when choosing that I have the potential to knock nearly $150 off my 6 month premium for my current car and the camaro when I take ownership.
I technically didn't hit the other car so that doesn't apply and colliding I see as more of two cars both changing lanes and hitting.

How would you guys word it for the purpose of getting this quote?

Your insurance company determined you were at fault......meaning you would fall under description 1......

just because I was at fault doesn't necessarily mean "I hit her"

You could be parked in the middle of the road and get rear ended 5 times and it's still your fault because you weren't moving and screwing with traffic.
I get what you're saying. I guess the point is the way they have it worded just has me unsure.

Just try the cheaper option, what is the worst that could happen?

Your insurance was obtained under false pretense and omission of material information..........meaning they will more than likely deny coverage when you file a claim.

I understand what you are saying and might even agree with your interpretation of the collision. It is however irrelevant. The only thing that matters here is the original interpretation of the accident as determined by your insurance company......you were deemed at fault.

I am pretty sure they will do a follow up before a claim is ever filed, if he pays for the insurance every month and they deny his claim, then they would have to refund all of his money, he can always just say he misinterpreted the question.

wouldn't even call it a misinterpretation, it's POOR wording on their part.

I put all this to bed and decided to just call.
He said it's considered an at fault accident but the lower number still applies.
thought it would be too good to be true, the number is lower then everyone else including my current insurance.

1: "your insured vehicle hit another vehicle"
2: "Another vehicle hit your insured vehicle"
3: "Your insured vehicle and another vehicle collided"
4: "your insured vehicle collided with a fixed object"

I beleve you would be option 3. This is the way I read it.

1: Your vehicle was move the other was parked.
2: The other vehicle was moving yours was parked.
3: Both vehicles were moving.
4: Obvious, your vehicle hitting Stop sign, Telephone Pole, ect.

Here are my 2 cents on buying insurance and I always saved money:
1. Never admit or disclose previous accidents and tickets.
2. Let them dig through their databases and see if something comes up or not, if yes then be like "oh yeah I forgot about that, it was a while ago". If they found nothing, well you have saved some money. If you go ahead and bend over yourself they will take advantage of it.
