Does this apply if you're driving your personal car and not a CDL vehicle?

Yeah, I got caught @ 109 on the turnpike. Cop just gave me a lecture and a ticket. Got a lawyer cause I was scared which was a big waste. Ticket was like $250 Made me take a 8 hour course instead of the normal 4 hr. Think I got 4 pts. Worse part was the jump in insurance. Made it 3 years without another ticket and now my insurance is back to a normal rate.

just count your blessings you don't live where I do.
31 mph over the speed limit is an automatic street racing charge here which includes up to a $10,000. fine, police to immediately suspend your driver's license and immediately impound the vehicle for 7 days(even if you don't own it) and then it's up to the courts from there.

There is nothing in that situation keeping you alive, the asphalt, guard rails, your car, etc, none of them are set up to take a wreck at those speeds.

Go to a track, put on a helmet, and go as fast as you want, and pay less than the ticket, and stay alive.
+1...take these kinds of speeds to the track and anyone driving at these speeds including the OP on regular roads and not on a closed track is a bonehead IMO.

Years ago 90 in a 35...get a lawyer!!!best $$ I ever spent. My prior record was clean. Left with a seatbelt violation. You are crazy if you take this on by yourself. My lawyer talked to the DA and it was done.. Get a good popular traffic lawyer who is known in the courts...

You do realize that Adam gets to see the ugly side of stupid driving up close and personal, don't you? You don't think it affects him, too?

I am pretty sure that it does. It probably follows the same logic as if the holder of a CDL license is caught in his personal car with over 0.04 BAC. I can call my son or son-in-law if I have to (both CDL-A).

Been there done that. Find a good traffic attorney that is LOCAL. If your record is clean(ish) they can usually plead down to a no point summons.

Self-deception is such a wonderful drug . . . and not only that - it's legal.

You'll be lucky if you reach my son's age 100% intact.
