Massachusetts drivers, your opinion please
In the last five years or so, have you noticed a growing trend in MA in which the average driver routinely travels at up to 10 or 15 mph below the posted speedlimit when conditions do not dictate that speed?
I am seeing this every day on rte 128, although I think that's because the commuters anticipate traffic and slow down instinctively. However on secondary roads and back roads I'm seeing 30 in a 40...25 in a 35...35 in a 40...all the damn time now. I was on rte 138 today. Very light traffic. Speed limit 45 mph in the areas. Car in front of me? 35 mph. Very common on that road is this just happening in the area outside of Boston or is this more widespread? It's becoming quite aggravating to constantly be in a parade doing 25 in a 35, with the whole road ahead of the first car clear

![]() But since you're in LE, you're looking for that speeder. It's like SUVs: not every SUV driver is an idiot. It's just that you notice the idiots more, since they stand out

Politics being what it is, I reckon some MA drivers know driving slow saves gas and benefits the environment.
Would these slow drivers be driving Prius's? |

![]() They are all for politics...and all for doing whatever they like, regardless, because they are soooo more important than anyone else. Environment be damned, they have places to be! Driving in MA can be a full-contact sport I note that the Prius is one of the cars that goes fastest down the highway around here, not the slowest.

This state is all messed up when it comes to things like that.
Civil Service departments you either have to live in town or be a military vet to automatically go to the top of the list to get hired. Non Civil service towns,(usually smaller towns/departments) can hire anyone they want, usually have to live within 15 airmile limit. Some Major Departments demand you live in the city, like Boston PD. and few others. but once hired you can then leave....kinda wierd but ok. Then theres State Police....can live where ever you please, all depends on how early you want to get up before work for your long commute!!

Makes sense now, MA drivers do as I say not as I do.
BTW, cops do not have to be residents of the city they work in. Thrown out in court challenges years ago. |

I see that traffic moving along at a good clip but there are always people doing well under the speed limit making it even more drastic, most of them have a phone stuck to their ears, pisses me off.
