My wife and I have had charter cable for a few years now. Well they keep raising the rate on us and I've about taken all I can take from them. We've never had satellite tv before, so which one do you guys like best? Direct tv or dish network?

We had Direct for a few years but they weren't willing to give us a deal when we moved and wanted to add HD. Dish did and we have had them for the last 6 years or so, no complaints here.

Have always been able to work a deal with directv. We have their full hd package (w/o the MLB/NBA channels) for $43.99/month. Normally something like $80-90/month. We have been with them for 6+ yrs. Just have to call them once a year when the "special" runs out, threaten to leave, and get a new deal for 12 more months.

Commits weekly crime
|
I had DirectTV about 8-10 years ago, and it was fine. Up here in Seattle, the coverage would break up only during very heavy rain/snow, which wasn't that often.
The thing you don't get is internet. That's why I've stuck with cable. Hate that it's effectively a monopoly, however the internet for me is almost more important than the TV.

I'm a Dish subscriber and also do A/V installs on the side. I've been exposed plenty to both. I would recommend Dish, the Hopper/Joey setup is pretty intuitive and at the moment fairly cutting edge. Though they commonly one-up each other. Although Directv has many more subscribers, I believe Dish is the leader when it comes to technology and user-friendliness, the guide is also better and easier on the eyes. The only reason I see to go with Directv over Dish is if Sunday Ticket is a must-have since it's exclusive to Directv.
