Won't hurt. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it

I have the RX Catch Can and breather on my car. It stops all oil from both sides from getting into the intake and looks good doing it. I have no regrets about spending the money on the setup and to me it makes perfect sense as to why you would not want oil running into a DI engine such as the LLT and the LFX.

tonyko1 finally got banned. About time.
Man, you'd think a catch can killed his family or stole his identity the way he rails about them. All because a backyard mechanic told him he didn't need it.

OP, I've drag raced for 20 years and built dozens of engines for me and others. As soon as I saw how much oil an LS3 ingests, I ordered one.

I recommend Elite

The ZL1 comes with a separator on the clean side, it's the small canister on the inner part of the coupler radius and does a good job for the clean side, but 95% plus comes from the dirty side so that you need.

The RX can is the most effective for stopping all the oil due to the design (look at post#84) but the Elite is an excellent can as well with very little getting past.

My 2012 LS3 had 19,000 miles on it when these photos were taken, Rx Catch Can was installed at 2,000 miles.

1. The throttle body has 17,000 miles on it with Rx Catch Can, there is no oil present on the throttle plate as tested by swiping my finger across it. When I removed the factory throttle body at 2,000 miles it already had oil accumulation on it and the intake manifold interior had a light coating of oil.
2. The oil catch volume is minimal at 17,000. My break-in routine was reasonably hard, about 50% throttle when accelerating to push piston rings against the cylinder bore during the first 250 miles. Miles 250 - 500 contained a number of WOT acceleration runs, with ample cool down periods to heat cycle the engine and driveline components.
3. Location of the Rx Catch Can in my LS3.

In my opinion, at minimum the Rx Catch Can will pay for itself by eliminating the cost of periodic throttle body cleaning service.

The performance benefits of maintaining ignition timing is a great benefit, too.

Nice photos!! By eliminating the oil ingestion you usually see 1-3 MPG improvement once the oil has worked its way out and is no longer causing spark knock also as a benefit.

I installed mine pretty late. At 47k! Install was done last week and there was a very small amount cleaned from the TB during the install. I will check the can after 1000 miles and post pics. I went the elite engineering catch can.

You may want to run a can of seafoam through your intake just to try to get rid of some of the oil buildup in your IM.
