Nope, wrong, had the Z07 performance package, as mentioned and if i am not mistaken, the price on that one was a bit over 100k. the secret is simply the near cheater slick tires.

the ZR1 was more than 2 seconds faster than the new Viper. In other news, the ZR1 stops in 91 feet from 60, which is just stupid.

I eat crow. I just couldn't believe that they would get 2 more seconds out of the ZR1 from the last time it ran there. Was something upgraded since then or just track conditions along with the driver?

So you're saying the ZR1 had a tire upgrade since the last time? Because, I remember reading that it was a handful to even get the time it ran the last time which was about 2 seconds slower than this time.

It is considerably quicker with those tires than without, same times that basically cut 2 seconds off the ZR1s time at LS.

I think you can get similar tires on the 911 that also made the list, but there are a few differences (I think) that I can't remember. Probably the Porsche's tires have tread on all the tire, while about 1/4 of the tire for the Corvette is as smooth as a racing slick.

Their sole purpose is for maximum performance. As such, there are certain compromises that must be made. Very low tread-wear ratings are one of them. Another would be poor performance on wet roads. I'm sure they don't do much to improve ride quality or comfort very much either. And they probably don't come very cheap.

But as part of a performance package for a track-oriented car? They don't come much better.
