He actually makes perfect sense.

If someone says, well, for the price difference between A and B, I could do C...

Then just buy a rolling shell from a miata or foxbody, or civic.

New cars are horrible investments, horrible dollar to performance ratio cars, and horrible everything.

I know, I jus bought a 55K one.

Yeah, thats what has me confused too! Just saw the report on the cts-v (wagon) and they said it ran 12.5 in the 1/4. That thing is heavier, has less power and less tire... how is that possible that they run the same time? Really wonder what happens once it cools down...

My SS ran low 13s stock and then with CAI and headers I was running 12.9. So I would think it was the driver/track/conditions. I have not ran my ZL1 yet. I really want to see how this launch control and no lift shift works

It was not the track or conditions. That only leaves the driver or the car.

Clearly the driver, guys. Car is capable of very close to 12 flat on stock rubber (number1gmfan's runs a could of months ago in a yellow one).

IF the temps really were good, then that has to mean the track prep, or driver was having issues.

Yes the ZL1 has underperformed a bit on the strip, but there is zero reason why a car with well over 100 HP and over 100TQ can't run more than a tenth or so better than a stock M6/SS.

Car should have been hitting mid 12s for sure...and even that is slower than what we'd all expect.

Driver mod! GM "CLAIMS" that the 1LE will run 12.9X in stock form. With 580HP I'd expect more as well. Practice! We talkin' 'bout PRACTICE!?!

So, what you are saying is, that a good percentage of buyers of the 2012 ZL1s are novice track racers ???? LoL..... I stated it before, they buy a 580HP $60,000 Camaro and think they are gonna run a 11sec 1/4 mile right off the bat and in reality it doesn't always happen.....

A good percentage of ZL1 owners are probably more like me. We purchased the car because it was more exclusive than any other production camaro, looked better than any current camaro (IMO at least), and was 580hp. Lets be real for a minute. I'm sure less than half of the owners cars will ever see a track or a drag strip. If I wanted a car to put on the track or strip it wouldn't have been this car. Hell my police cruiser will see more action than my Z ever will.
