My AM/FM is rock solid. My wife's BMW on the other hand with AM sucks nads.

Haven't had XM for almost a year now. I mainly stick to my iPad.

The first week I had my new Vert, I noticed this problem! My wife has a new Avalanche with XM and hardly ever loses signal. I have 2 other vehicles with Sirius and also no problems with reception. My Vert however, if the wind blows too strong, I lose signal! Very Annoying, but as I travel a lot, it is hard to do without the satelite radio!

XM cuts out on my vert along wooded roads but the FM and AM are crystal clear.

XM Radio will fade out because it is dependent on the position of a satellite(s) in relationship to your vehicle. It is a bit bothersome at times but I still like the XM radio selection and sound much more than the AM and FM bands.

What may be best is to take your car to your local dealership and see if there is anything that they may be able to do if you are concerned that it is not working properly. They also would be able to check your VIN for any applicable warranties. If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me via PM.

All the best,

Brandon

We live in a place called "The Livable Forest" and there are trees everywhere. In both our 11 2LT RS hard top and our 04 Tahoe Z71, we get pretty good reception. It will fade in and out under heavy trees, but overall it is pretty good. I made a one mile drive and in both of these cars it only would fade in and out once or twice. On the same route in our 12 2ss convertible i had over 25 fade in and outs. The antenna sucks and I am thinking of canceling my XM service on that car, but my wife loves the 80's on 8 and would probably kill me.

I moved from SOUTH Texas with out any problems with the XM, but here in Georgia (a place with trees) I have second thoughts about keeping the service now.

I asked the dealership about this a few days ago because Mine fuzzes in and out all the time every day. My fusion has no issues in the same area.

They told me they called GM and its a typical issue. And from talking with the Mechanics and service writers it seems to be a GM issue...

Definitely not going to renew my XM radio

I went to car toys yesterday to look at replacing the antenna with one of the Sirius or XM stock antenna's that mount on the dash board. After 1 hour they came and and told me the connector for the convertible is non-standard and they cannot replace my antenna. My option now is to replace the radio with a double din unit, but I am not willing to do that.

I have opened a case with Brandon from Customer Service at GM and he will be getting back to me.

Sirius/XM has dumped most (if not all) of their Repeater Stations designed to fill in satellite gaps with a terrestrial signal. Since then, my '07 Suburban and '08 Avalanche continuously lose the XM signal in the vicinity of mountains and woods. This was never a problem before, except way out in the boondocks.

One theory on signal loss is that the metallic paint on the shark fin decreases the signal reception. My Camaro has not been outside Philadelphia yet, so reception has been fairly steady.

If XM was my only trouble with this Pandora's Box of problems, I'd be very lucky.
