Any guide in how to change the standard gas cap to the locking fuel door?

I was wondering about this since even if I lock my car, anybody can open my gas cap, so I might order the transformer one but I want to know how to install it. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

Check with vender Defenderworx. I know there is a little bit to get the locking tab to lock. They might be able to walk ya thru installation.

Defenderworx has install instructions on their website. But it's still a PIA install.

just buy a locking gas cap? Stant makes them, I think it was $16 at autozone.

Locking Fuel Cap - Stant 10504. Try Advance or Autozone.

Wait on ... Our fuel filler door locks via a solenoid when the car is locked. Why would you want a locking cap?

They are a Pain In the A$$ to install. I have had mine for 2 years now and I like it but yes it was annoying to install.

1. You have to first remove the stock door. You do this by opening the door and pulling it towards you. The door should come off the hinge.

2. You have to remove part of the hinge by cutting and sanding.

3. You have to remove the locking mech (this is where it became a pain)

4. Cut a piece of the locking mech off

5. Put the supplied clasp for the locking door and 3M tape on the locking mech and place back.

6. Install the new locking door the opposite way the stock one came off.

Overall once you get the locking mech out it isn't bad it's just getting it out that was horrible.

I know this isnt very detailed as I did this over 2 years ago but I hope it gives you an idea on how to install the door.

Got it, you just got to pull it out... hard (could of used this advice on many occasions in life)

When i installed mine instead of putting the locking clip that was provided i simply took a dremel and cut a slot in the plastic towards the back of the car to give it a sturdier locking point and i have never had problems from it
I got the idea from the salesman at defenderworkz cause my clip was not in my package
Overall wasnt hard at all
