you are right. Depends where you live. Some parts, they consider a Ferrari sighting extremely rare whereas in other parts, they are common.

'69 "ZL1" Camaro '69 BOSS 429 Mustang Which was mass-produced? Which was hand-built/converted? Which is more valuable today? And before you pull the "COPO Card", the purpose of the COPO Program was to ensure assemly-line compatability before the order was accepted. NO Dearborn Steel Tubing/Kar Kraft/Hurst hijinks required... |

I will say though that they are a whole lot rarer than most other mass produced cars. Just check out the GT500s annual build numbers compared to the standard mustang or the ZL1 compared to the standard Camaro. They pretty much build the regular Camaro and mustang in one month the same # they build for the entire year of the ZL1 and GT500. That's pretty rare by today's standards. I do believe that the GT500 will be the rarer of the two though. |

mid 2013 ZL1 is my preference. That should be plenty of time between the 2012 and early 2013 to iron out whatever minor bugs that will surely creep up. Something was changed in the 2012 just before they were about to get on the train, held in QC for weeks...
I keep saying I will put my SS for sale soon but everytime I walk past it, I tell myself, hang on a little longer. I really wanna take my time on the ZL1, SoCal dealers are marking them up pretty good and will so for a bit longer. I am not willing to buy out of state and deal with the extra crap to get it over here, blah blah blah |

Ford built the BOSS '9s for NASCAR certification...500-minimum in '69 (Ford missed that number by a few, as did Chrysler with their Charger 500s), and 1,000-minimum for '70 (like the Superbird), which Ford exceeded.
GM, on the other hand, used a readily available engine recipe (ZL1) from that other RARE production-built car of theirs, the ZL1 Corvette (two built). They HAD to build a minimum of 50, as per NHRA, to qualify the car for Super Stock-Class racing. Ford and Chrysler decided to go "outside" with hand-converted/built cars. GM didn't, and therefore relied on "mass production" to hold costs in line. Otherwise, what would the price of a ZL1 Camaro have been?! Just about as bad as a fully-equipped '13 GT500... |

I want the next generation GT500 to be able to break the sound barrier. Is this possible. What would be the trap speed on that? 705mph? Maybe a 2.2 or 2.1 second 1/4 mile?
Let's insist on it. Erik
