Adoption is done
For the last 6 months, my wife and I have been going through the numerous legal hoops for her to adopt my biological son. Today the court officially granted her the adoption and she is now the proud momma of a 105 pound teenage boy!

I am just so excited that I had to share!

Congratulations!

I am considering adopting an adult (28 years old) to be the beneficiary of my will. None of my biological family are worth the DNA of which they are constituted. It is not commonly done , yet the law does provide for such eventualities.

My 17 year old daughter was just not ready for the adoption. Part was her independence coming out, and part was she felt guilty being adopted. The kids biological mother dies about 1 1/2 years ago. We have told her it was ok to not go through with the adoption now and we will entertain it any time in the future. Our attorney told us about a 70 year old adopting a 58 year old.

Adult adoptions were the usual means by which the Romans of the Ancient World continued their family lines so successfully. I figure: if they could do it, so can I.
