Not true, the vette and the camaro share the same motor. The difference is really not horsepower but less weight, aero dynamics, lower center of gravity etc... That's the only "ceiling" between the Vette and camaro.

How so? I heard the car mags got a hold of a simulator and that's what they're saying about the gt500. 3.7 0-60 and mid 11s 1/4 mile.

I guess the bottom line is the Mustang friends on this site (weren't we just talking about contradictory? ....) default to assuming the GT500 will come out on top...

And the Camaro people default to believing the ZL1 still has one helluva chance. Al Op is a Camaro guy, and has more data and experience to back up what he says than all of us put together. He might be laying on the confidence thick....but here we are still talking about it - so I'd say he's a very, very smart man for answering so boldly.

The debate will never be won - because let's face it....this is a battle of wills as much as it is bench-racing. Don't take anything too seriously.

Yeah the specs are great... But from a technology perspective Ford is behind. And a design perspective as well the Mustang just doesnt look as appealing as a Camaro or Challenger. Mustangs have gotten boring to people they all look the same on the road. The design on the 6th gen one will have to have a dramatic re-design to retake a sales lead.

The base Corvette and the Camaro SS share the same motor. The top dog Vette has a FULLY forged 638 HP LS9, the top dog Camaro has powdered/cast internals and 580 HP from the LSA. This is where the ceiling is, and ALWAYS will be.

How's that Nav system in your Camaro?

Or something close to SYNC?

One would argue Chevy is behind from a technological perspective, Ford Sync and Dodge/Chrysler UConnect are class leading, MyLink looks like a joke, Cue looks like it has potential but the user interface is thoroughly complicated (very much like the old version of MyFord Touch. Ford is already has a Dual Clutch Manual Transmission, Chevy is only just working on one.

There is no denying that the ZL1 is a marvel but for every but of technology they put in the Camaro, there's a square foot of plastic for the cars interior. Chevy will have to do better than Fisher Price to beat next gen Mustang as the current on already kicks the Camaro in the man sack.

I love the look of the Mustang in and out/ Camaro I love the look outside but hate how boring the interior is and before you say that's just my opinion, it's not just mine there are so many people that will agree in a heartbeat.

I have to agree with sirloin, and huggerorange, your posts are almost the exact same thing every time and I'm starting to get a migraine....

So our pushrods engines are new technology? Have you looked at a new GT500? There is nothing boring about them. They look great. Much better than a GT.

See, thats what im talkin about. By him saying what he did, and then information like this comes out, it makes him look incompetent...IMO. The last thing you want to see is imcompetence coming from the chief engineer on the ZL1. I really wish he would just stop talking... Now that he has publicly set the bar so high by his own words, if the outcome doesnt go his way it will be a fiasco. That is not smart... Also by him saying all this stuff, and writing these letters, it gave ALOT of the fuel to the mustang fans to come here and 'defend' their car to which alot of people always bitch about on this forum...That right there is another...

Obviously you have never heard or seen Chevy's new My Link system its like Fords Sync but better and the new Cadillac CUE system is better than anything Ford has done if that were put into a next gen Camaro it would be over.
