Actually it has more to do with "bra" being short for "brazier." Yes, it holds up two breasts, but it is one article of clothing. Panties are not plural, but have the "ies" to mean "less than a pair of pants." Shoes are plural because you need a left and a right shoe to have a complete pair of shoes. Pants are also not plural, but are short for their original term "pantaloon."

Colloquialism has a way of destroying words and their origins...

As amusing as the OP is, it's still further proof that our education sucks and that people would rather think themselves clever for thinking this shit up rather than find out that the answer to their question makes them look pretty stupid.

Many words we use in a modern sense have origins that far pre-date what we apply the word to today. The word "cargo" has long been in existence before the word "car." "Car" is not a root word.

If you're wondering how important a person must be to be assassinated rather than simply murdered, let's try an experimental killing of you.

If 7-11's are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, why do they have locks on the doors?

I in no way condone, advocate nor participate in the interjection of colloquial slang into my dialect or any other where the integrity of the meanings expressed or otherwise implied may be misinterpreted or compromised in any way shape form or fashion! All "puns" are acceptable however. Only proper grammar will be tolerated! Exacerbation of a possibly calm composed situation in which the scenario could turn volatile or violent are not appreciated. I wish to participate in a civilized discussion that acknowledges ambiguity and complexity. We should all find consensus and a common ground. Please people lets be rational here.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You guys make me LOL!

lol fun shit is fun or some shit like that lol?
