Looking for another Car
So I may be looking for another car soon. Not to replace the Camaro, but an additional DD. Im definatley looking to spend below $15K and below 10K would be perfect. Any suggestions, opinions, experince etc.. on a new Fuel Economic Vehicle? I really could care less about performance, just something to get me to and from work without another huge hit to my wallet.

Are you buying new? Hyundai Elantra is the newest and best of the econo-cars. If you have to buy domestic
, then look at the Focus. IMHO, the Cruze is overpriced for what it is.

. Although you may have a REAL hard time getting used to the 1.0L 70hp engine, not to mention the feeling that you could drive under half the vehicles on the road! http://www.automotive.com/2010/09/sm...two/index.html

Hey fellahs, here's my two cents: how 'bout gettin' an ol' beater, and modding its drivetrain while leaving the rest lookin' like da' wrath o' god? I got a friend who's got an ol' 5.0 that he modded with a forged bottom end, tall cam 'n heads, and sucks spray from a bottle in da' trunk. He don't lie 'bout nothin', it jus' looks as it is.
Last week he won $5K at the street races in Compton. Not bad, eh? Stealth can mean wealth. |

I bought a 2011 Fiesta for my job as I have 30,000 miles of travel to do and couldn't be happier. Mine is an SE sedan with an MSRP of 16.5k and has all the comfort features you'd want for a daily driver, including SYNC. I'm averaging 41.5MPG right now through 8,200 miles. Its actually reasonably quick for a sub-compact also, with a 120hp four banger. Besides the mileage the handling is the best feature, I drive a lot of mountains and its a complete breeze to do. I attached some pics below.

I drive a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant, very nice car. Even has a 4 banger that gets nice mpg. It's not the fastest thing on the road but keeps up with the traffic on 95 everyday.

I bought a BRAND NEW Silverado work truck. Nothing fancy about it but only 16K and change with the incentives. A/C, Cruise, AM/FM/CD/MP3 jack. You can haul stuff when you need to. Works for me.

I have to agree the Chevy Cruz was over priced for what it was. Toyota and Honda did not have the best options with Corola or Civic. The Ford Focus seemed to be the best option for us so far. Nice features inside, decent performance, good fuel mileage and it was the lowest price in the group.
I will say though it will be hard for me to buy something that is this slow in comparison to my Camaro. Once you get fast you rarely want to get slower. I am almost tempted to wait it out and move up to a bigger car with more creature comforts and luxury instead of getting one of these little cars, maybe a hybrid Accord. Just my opinion though. We looked at everything I just listed about a week ago. |
