Question for you guys. Couple months ago, I made a pathetic attempt at painting the cover myself. The paint job turned out pretty decent, 8/10, but the clearcoat didn't work out so well. Cloudy in spots and it didn't bring out the shine in the orange the way I wanted.
So...do you think I will be able to get it wrapped if I choose and not worry about this failed paint job or is it basically shot and I'll need to get a new one? Thanks! |

Did you try color wet sanding it? Start out with 1000 grit, and work up to 2500 grit using water as you sand, and use a flexible sanding block. When the color of the cover is flat looking then you can take a DA (Dual Action) polisher to it. That is what EmblemPros did with mine.
The wrap should work OK, but remember that our V6 covers are not as smooth as the V8 covers, and that is why EmblemPros sanded mine down to get the bumps out of it. The wrap will look much better that way.

Yeah, tried wet sanding multiple times w/ a flex block. Didn't try the DA polisher, though. Thanks. Also, I sanded the cover down thoroughly before doing anything to it...it's very smooth, so should be okay for a wrap. |

Here's mine. I decided to go with synergy green. I also did the door panels and dash trim. Wish I had a decent camera. These are with my iPhone...

Yeah, it looks really green in the pics, but it's actually synergy green. I'm trying to find someone with a good camera to take better pics.

I bought adhesive promoter in a spray can. So sanding probably isn't necissary, but yes, I degreased it, sanded, degreased again, added adhesive promoter, primed it, base coat, then clear. Lol
