Why are people complaining about this? Gas was over $4.00/gal a short time ago. You didn't think it would ever go back to that price? I'm surprised it stayed low for so long, but that's mostly due to low demand because of the recession. Now speculators see demand rising and the economy picking back up. Gas will be back to $4/gal. It'll suck, but I didn't buy an SS to save the planet or to save $$$ on gas. I bought it because in a few years when gas is $6, $7/gal I'll have to buy a 40MPG car as my primary transportation. Why is everybody acting so surprised? Gas was $1.10/gal in 2002. It's $3.30/gal today. You can bet it'll be $7/gal in 2018
And as other people have mentioned, look around you. Other countries pay around $8/gal. If they can afford it w/o starving to death or living on the streets, so can Americans. I don't want to pay $8/gal by any means, but it's not the end of the world. Put things into perspective. Many people pay $100/mo on cable TV, another $50 on internet and another $80 on their cell phone along with $4/day ($80/mo) on coffee and $120/mo eating out for lunch. We have it good in this country. Learn to love what you have while you have it.

Legal extortion. If they were making normal profits instead of incredible profits it wouldn't be so bad. The "haves" have a choke-hold on the "have-nots" but you choke your cash cow too long and it dies. Then you got nothin'.
I bought my cobalt because it would give me great gas mileage when prices were ultra high. I bought my Camaro because it delights me and I don't much care about the price of gas. The comments some of you guys make in a direct attempt to make another feel small (you know who you are) demonstrate what a pathetic individual you are. Did you throw kittens in the dryer as a child too? No matter what comment someone makes*, there is no need to ridicule them for it. *Any comments that include maro, raro, camero or caramo are exempt from the above statement. |

As packed as the stores have been for Christmas,I don't think folks around here are worried about gas going back up. I was stationed in Germany(Europe) and gas is way more exspensive over there than here. You can always buy a Chevy Cruze, don't they get almost 40 miles to the gallon?? ![]() NYC gas is hovering around: $3.35 for 87 and $3.50 for 93

and you are wrong about prices going down for only a few years if we drill. we have more oil here then the middle east will ever have under our grounds. its been proven. so gas would be cheap for a while. |

Why say we can't change something when all we have to do is defund these maverick unelected beaurocracies and get back to representative government?

I am a professional geologist and I worked for a major oil company for a while. I know a few things about petroleum reserves from reading the scientific and petroleum-industry literature (for example, the Journal of Petroleum Geology). Drilling anywhere (foreign or domestic) is not going to be a long-term solution to our energy needs and it certainly won't help the environment to continue to burn fossil fuels. When you say "it's been proven," I would be interested to read the scientific literature that you're referring to. It would be great if you would cite your source. |
