You'll never know if you don't ask. We've all been here in this position. In my case, I never asked. 6 years later I did while both of us were attending college, and I got the answer I didn't want to hear. If you can't guess, she said, "why the hell did you wait so long, I would have said yes" :( At that time it was waaay to late. I guess to answer your question, whatever you do, don't do what I did. The waiting game don't work.

And don't go to her brother for the phone number. Just ask her yourself.

In my defense, the way the chick is today...Thank goodness I never asked her. Thank you thank you thank you!

ask her if she's going... if she's not say "alright well hey, we should go out sometime." Go from there. You can always give her your number too... say "hey, here's my number if you want to come to this party on so and so date... you should come"

if it were me, i'd work the swim meet angle, plenty of opportunities to sit and talk

I wish that was the case, but our team is merged of my school and hers, so we are almost never on the same bus. on some occasions we are, but if so, she is usually with her school friends

its not that i dont have the balls, or that im scared of being rejected, ive just never been in a situation like this before. ive always gotten numbers of facebook messaging and whatnot, and never had to actually ask for them in person. so idk the best way to go about it.

He was only stating an example. Okay, how's this? Wait until after she does a relay (or what ever it is you do), and go over and say good job or ask if she needs help out of the pool. Anything small to break the ice.

Just tell her you are doing something and was wondering if she might be interested in coming along. That way you aren't typically asking her out, so if she says no, it's not really like you are getting rejected, and if she says yes you get to spend some time actually talking to her. If she does say no, maybe you can find out what kind of stuff she IS interested in and find something like that to ask about later. Either way... don't make a big deal about it.

You need to just walk up to her and start a general conversation (you have an easy topic, swimming). Then, ask her if she would like to go to a movie or something. If she is willing then get her number directly from her not the brother. Your first time contacting her needs to be a phone call not a text IMO. It will show that you have interested enough in her that you will giver her your undivided attention. If you are shot down dont worry about it.

With all due respect man - JUST GO TALK TO HER! I'm only 5 years out of high school so I'm not like an old fart trying to put down youngsters lol but our generation is relying WAY too much on facebook and texting and is WAY too indirect. Again with all due respect - grow some balls and show her some confidence man. There's a plethora of reasons why girls like confidence so why don't you give it a try and see what kind of results you get. Even if you don't have success this time you will feel so much more confident with the next girl.
