The thing I like is there are at least 10 Camaros and Mustangs for every Challenger in my town. You just don't see as many Challengers for what ever the reason and that's fine by me.

A premium GT starts at $32,845, 2SS at $34,295, GT500 at $48,645, SRT8 at $42K+. 7K+ is more of a price difference than the 6k between the GT500 and SRT8. By your logic of the car doesnt cost much more than what Ford or Chevy are asking purely proves my point that the GT500 is the better value becuase Ford is asking even less of a price difference between the GT500 and SRT8 vs the difference between SRT8 and GT/SS. For 7K+ I would surely hope it offers more of a performance advantage over the GT/SS and while it might offer a little it wont be nearly as big of a gap that the GT500 offers over the SRT8.

In price comparisons you need to remember the automatic is standard in the Challenger, where it is not in the others. Therefore, you need to put an auto on the other two, which raises the prices of both by over $1000

The auto is a standard option really? Thats pretty cool actually. Ok they are all 6K apart.

Don't forget you also need to add $1,200 for HID lighting on top of the $1,185 for auto tranny. Don't forget $470 for stripes that are standard on challenger. That right there brings the total to $37,280 and I'm sure I'm forgetting other stuff the challenger has to offer. Did I mention that it has a larger more powerful engine and seats 5 people whereas the camaro seats only 4??? After it's all said and done, it is a bit more expensive but sometimes you gotta pay more to drive something different than everybody else I guess..

Why would anyone consider it a plus to pay more for a manual transmission?

We would see a LOT more Challengers if the SRT8 was more like $32k like the SS is. I suspect the SRT8 would've been a lot closer to the SS in price if the SS had come out first. I think Dodge thought they could get away with charging $42k because at the time the Challenger was basically the only game in that part of town. For a number of reasons, it looks like the R/T doesn't cross-shop too well against the SS and 5.0. But now that the 5.0 and SS are out, Dodge either could re-position the SRT8 to try and compete with the GT500 or slash the price. They chose the former.

the srt8 is right in the middle between the ss and gt500 and the price suggests it and now the power does too,

oh and from reviews it seems like the 90 tq they got across certain rpms are doing wonders for this car. and the most important thing is that it looks like the suspension tweaks really make this car feel and drive like a true muscle car.
