Why are you guys making excuses for the GT500 not hooking when the V has more power on tap and is on street tires too? Bot of those runs were abysmal as the V coupe is capable of <4.0 0-60 and =<12.0 1320. Review for review the V series always posts better times than the GT500. If Chevy can squeeze any fat out of the Camaro the Z is gonna be a beast when they drop the LSA in the Z/28. I bet it gets a slight uptune for the 2012 MY too.

I think races like the GT500 vs. CTS-V A6 will be quite common in the real world. In fact I would say that in a race with even a potential Z28 M6, GT500 and CTS-V A6 that the CTS will pull out a lead on two traction deprived beasts while they struggle to catch up. The good news is the A6 will likely be a Z28 option too. Driver mod notwithstanding.

The GT500 vs. CTS-V is classic Drag Racing 101. I'll trade 2-3 mph on the trap speed for a tenth on the 60ft everytime. It's why dyno queens don't rule the track.

Ford needs a PDK style SMG in the GT500 asap, and the Z28 needs one too. When in this weight class it is just too difficult to get a car to hook with a manual transmission. And while an automatic can largely remedy that problem in this kind of car an auto just isn't as sexy as rowing your own gears. A SMG transmission solves both issues and would make both cars quicker.

If GM wants to score a serious coup on Ford the easiest way to do that would be to equip the Vette, Z28, and CTS-V with a well developed SMG.

I've never heard that phrasing before. Are they Dual Clutch Transmissions? Or just automated manuals?

Older version was SMG (OLD M3) New M3 is DCT. You can also get an 135i with DCT now.

I have a 335i auto with paddle shifters. AWD as well. With it tuned I ran 12.2 at 115.6 1/4.

Waiting on the Z/28 though to trade up...

They are dual stage, or dual clutch if you prefer.

Right, and Porsche has the PDK, which is apparently awesome to drive.
I love that new CTS-V Coupe. The rear end just looks so sleek. I want it now. They better reclaim their title from the Porsche Panamera.

Funny you mention that...I have been going back and forth about getting the new CTS-V Coupe, or waiting to see if the Z28 actually comes out.

Besides the 20K approx. price difference if the Z28 is about 50K, I just don't know which to pick....

Also, there is a 2SS/RS for sale on the forum here that is ready to roll with the Maggie and other good stuff for 37.5K.....RRRGGGHHH, why can't GM just hurry up and give us the details...it's killing me....
