The Grand Sport Vette stomps the GT500 in handling.
Actually it doesn't.

The GT500 brakes slightly better and the skidpad numbers are a little better than the grand sport vette. It lapped VIR faster than the Grand Sport also. 2010 Grand Sport vette that is.

If you run a 12.6 with a 119mph trap speed it is pretty safe to say you can't drive.

I don't think GM has sold a car with a big block in decades.

I honestly can't remember the last GM big block in a production vehicle.

I know GM stopped making big blocks. I don't think Dodge makes them anymore. Not sure about Ford though.

My guess is Evan Smith runs a very high 11.7 at best, probably a 11.8, at around 121-122 mph in the 1/4 when he tests the 2011 GT500 in stock form.

11.40s-11.50s when he puts the slicks on.

I do know the 2011 GT500 they got put down 500rwhp/476rwtq in stock form.

For people that complain about every little compensation Camaro drivers make you sure throw this guys name around a lot. Are you Evan Smith? No?

Hey, it's an honest mistake. The Shelby has sucked for so many years at stopping and turning. You'd have to follow it pretty closely to already know how much improvement has been made for 2011.

For the first time in a long time I'm actually considering buying one... might come down to the Z28 and a GT500. Great job Ford!

The 8.1L in the 2007 Silverado 2500HDs were the last big-blocks that GM produced.

Quite possibly, but I was just making note of all the excuses that we SS drivers get accused of making.

He is by far the best driver that tests for a major magazine. Hell he even got the best time ever posted in a mag out of a 4th gen LS1 f-body.

Here is his video testing the 2011 5.0.
