I'm building out a theatre room in my house and this has got me wanting to do a hidden entranceway. Can you PM me with details of how you designed and built the door system? Including costs, materials, et al?

Great job on the room and entrance! Great choice on the Dynaudio as well. It's hard to beat their sound quality...flat, yet crisp and punchy. Bravo!

Awesome theater man! I can't believe you're that into Batman and you got a CGM Camaro, lol. You should do the flat black vinyl wrap pictured here:

And if you have a DIY on that door that would be most appreciated.

Wow, i just checked the MSRP on that projector... I hope you got a good deal on it! I'm sure the picture quality and contrast make it worth the money, but damn!

LOL I'm an installer so being one of the first to own that model I saved about 2k but I wish I could have gotten the closeout pricing when that model was discontinued. I wanted to get my hands on it during the build though so I could have the proper mount placement and prewiring for the panamorphic lens...being an installer saved me about 12k plus all the labor I saved making this a diy where I would normally sub the work out to contractors...

I noticed it had an extension on the front. I know a good bit about TVs, projectors, HD, etc. But my knowledge stops at knowing the difference between LCD, LED, Plasma, 1080p vs 1080i, and HDMI vs DVI. What does the panamorphic lens do?

The story with that room as I understand it, is that it is all photoshop. I called the company Elite Home Theater Seating (the company responsible for that photo, use the link and check their gallery) to find out who built this room and they said it didn't really exist. However that room has been my inspiration from the beginning of my room's inception. My room will not be a complete knock off because it isn't practical or economical but will have several visual cues inspired by that picture.

The panamorph lens allows you to eliminate the black bars that are present when viewing 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 ratio filmed movies on a 16x9 display. By scaling the bars out of the picture by stretching the image the bars are removed, but you are left with tall and skinny people and scenery. But when that distorted image is projected through a panamorphic lens, is corrects the distortion. But to view this enlarged image you need a screen that is in the 2.35:1 or "constant height" format. It is not shown in my videos, but my screen has masks on each end that raise when the lens is engaged to reformat the screen ratio...Hope that helps you understand
