The roads really suck right now...

I just drove my Camaro to work and today is the first time I've had my tires spin. I have pirelli snow and ice tires on it and I've had it in the snow before, it has always been really good in the snow for me... but today driving to work sucked! I think it was just the amount of snow on the ground and the fact that the Camaro has a wider track than most cars and also wider tires. Those ruts were really throwing me around. I had to drive about 45 miles in the stuff and it was pretty hard to see through all the snow dumping on us right now. I hope the storm is over before I go home in the morning...

No they dont suck... the road conditions really suck. Like I said I've driven on them all season so far and haven't spun a tire once until today.

Winter tires make a HUGE difference, so i can only imagine how good those pirelli ice and snows are .
yeah i dont think they would be that great in deep snow because of the lower profile and the fact that theyre wide. But atleast it does well in most conditions
Drive safe, and smart choice on getting those winters , too many people here have been taking the risk by going out in their summers

My '10 SS is away for the winter. This is the first time that I have ever had a winter machine. I have an 01 Buick for the winter. My last three cars before my '10 were Camaros. 87 V-8 sport coupe, 98 Z-28 and 02 SS. I drove these three all winter long. They were my only cars because my other car is a Harley. They sucked in the snow. They were scary. The tires are too wide and do not dig in. The engines were too pwerful for the snow. The 98 and the 02 both had the ASR traction control. It didn't help at all. I got sick of being stuck at the bottom of a hill with everyone honking their horns at me. They also had the ability to be stopped on a hill and start sliding on their own and then slide uncontollably to the bottom of the hill. My supervisor at work used to laugh and call my Camaros California Cars.

I don't know what it is but there are conditions where ANY tire is no help. Seen some pretty strange granular snow, like the top layer and then underneath is the ice. Seems like nothing moves on that stuff. Makes driver a Tractor Trailer really hairy!
