nbc bought out connan for 45mil!!! im sure he is doing just fine!! and i think fox will be looking to hire him possibly then they would all compete against eachother and may the best man win! which will prob be JAY LENO

Looks like FOX and CBS are the big winners and if it wasn't for the Golden Globes which is only 1x per year, NBC would be sucking fumes. I didn't put in the cable chart, but Wrestling , NCIS, and SpongeBob are the top 5 (wrestling twice and NCIS twice).

Not all of the money is going to him. Some $22 million is for his staff, and Conan is giving some of his portion of the pay off to his staff as well.

“In the end, Conan was appreciative of the steps NBC made to take care of his staff and crew, and decided to supplement the severance they were getting out of his own pocket,” his manager, Gavin Polone, told The Wall Street Journal. “Now he just wants to get back on the air as quickly as possible.”

The shock would be if FOX changed their minds and didn't want Conan after all! Besides, it wasn't in writing that Fox would even hire him.

Conan may be a genius in wrting Simpsons but he is no stand up comic. His delivery tanked with the older viewer at 11:35 but was passable at 1230 with the younger crowd.

The GROSS RATING POINTS were delivered by Jay. That is why he is back.

I watched co jo's last 2 shows due to all the fuss..........he was not funny. His interviews suck.

The other Jay Leno thread on the main forum was closed in the middle of my thought, so I figure I'd paste it here. If this thread gets closed. Fine, I will not persist:

...and you know, I won't deny that Conan's humor is young adult oriented and even juvenile at times, but that was part of his show's allure. Bringing Conan injected a surge of youthfullness and exuberance to a well respected Late Night Talk Show like "The Tonight Show." It isn't for everybody, but you know what? Things change. Time for Leno to move on gracefully. He obviously doesn't need the money. Give it a rest and actually drive some of the cars you own instead of looking at them.

Leno should've taken the Top Gear job and contributed his wealth of automotive knowledge to American car culture. He could've been great. Instead, he got into a pissing match over a comedy show.

He can't take all the blame, though. NBC did this based on ratings, and O'Brian had some terrible ratings.

Okay, everyone with a brain knows when the tonight show is on. It does not need to be established. Jay Leno stepped right in for Johnny Carson and did really well. Conan just doesn't appeal. That's the part I don't understand. Arguably Leno's were even worse for his earlier timeslot. He couldn't even draw in enough viewers to compete against reruns on TNT in his timeslot (seriously).

If you call Coco's rating's bad and you want to replace him, I understand that (that's just business)- but it seems that the bloom came off Jay's rose too. I know he had success before, but he demonstrated he didn't have as large of a loyal viewer base as they thought he did. I only marginally care about who gets what show, but this whole thing has been fascinating for me. I don't know why- slow motion trainwreck maybe? If someone gives you the choice of 2 piles of crap do you try to take the larger one because it reminded you of a better dinner?

And just FYI- Jay Leno didn't do very well at first. He was sagging horribly behind Letterman then he did the famous Hugh Grant interview right after he was caught with the ugly hooker and his ratings took off. Seriously- look it up.
