Cheaper to make.

That's not the same one the op has pictured. The one there is not a limited item and does not have the hover wheels.

I guess if you find one on e-bay, let me know as I am interested
part II version

rule of thumb if the picture of it shows the wheels in 'hover mode' in the pic it is the 1 of 3K limited edition

and yes its more on places like ebay but the part II with the RARE folding hover model is the reason why it is more $$$, as i said the part 1 car you can get between 35-40 as they made a LOT more of them, they only made 3000 of the one I have .

That is the part 1 version, *note the missing Mr Fusion on the back deck*, still a very nice car, word of advice the doors on the early cars do not line up very well, i keep mine open all the time. under the front trunk that opens up there is a switch that says TRY, OFF, PLAY. if you have it on TRY it just makes 3 sonic booms and flashes the coils, the PLAY one cycles the sounds. if you HOLD down the button for a few seconds it does a nice long time travel demo of it 'disappearing' and the 3 sonic booms of it arriving where it went to .

first of all:

A, Mine was free as in my brother gave it to me
B, I said in one of my posts that the part ONE car you can find between 35-45, the link you posted is for one for 39.99 or 40 dollars, i saw a lot of the part 1 or mark 1 cars for that same price, but some have been as high as 55 which is nuts
C, The one I have is a LIMITED EDITION, so of course it will sell for more, i see on ebay right now for 65 bucks BEFORE shipping.

My brother paid 38 for mine cause he got it on a black friday special, normally the 1/15 Deloreans are 49.88 at www.bttf.net where he got it from .

CJ, how old are you? We've already said twice that there are two versions of the car. One has the hover conversion and is harder to find, the other is easy to find and is missing the cool aspect of the original. Nobody has overpaid since the item we are looking for is sold out/out of stock/print etc meaning the only way to get it is to pay more for it in places like e-bay. If I'm lucky I'll be paying $15 over and $15 shipping making it $30 more than if I bought it when it came out. Had I known about this, I would have bought it on Black Friday since it was cheapest then. However 3000 made is not much by collectors standards.
If you still think all of us are overpaying for a plastic toy version of a car that probably costs $10 or less to make in China, then you're probably right. However there is no other company making this at the moment so we are stuck. And it does look like a premium display product if you're a fan of Back to the Future. So please, enough is enough..

Very nice. I also have a BTTF II DeLorean model. It's one of the older ones with no lighting, but it's also a bit bigger.

Of course, I also have an actual DeLorean...

mine is the one on the left (part 1 version shown, not to be confused with the Part II version), I do not have the 1/18 scale cars but I DO have 3 of the 1/24 die casts one for each film version (as well as 4 glue together and one snap together model kits of the time traveling DMC ). I would love to see one that is bigger than 1/15 scale . I know the filming miniature is about 24" long .
