Thats normal
You just learned a valuable lesson. Your story didn't surprise me at all. It's strange but the MORE you are NICE to people, the MORE they will think you are a DOORMAT, so do yourself a favor and be more careful next time. What if you injured your leg even more than it was? If your leg snapped in half, they would have still ignored you and let you lie on the ground until you got ran over. Try to stay more focused on taking care of yourself so you can be healed. NO ONE cares about you except maybe your family. I can promise you that. That is how life is. If someone ran you over, I promise they likely would NOT STOP. They would just keep going. That's how it is in the U.S.
In fact, MOST PEOPLE ON HIGHWAYS who pull over to help someone stranded ALMOST ALWAYS end up being hit by another car within about 5 minutes. It happens repeatedly where I live. Good samaritan gets out of his car, then another car swerves because they are drunk/and driving too fast, and the good samaritan is dead almost instantly. That's classic. I can guarantee you that scenario probably took place somewhere in the U.S. within the past 24 hours. Always, always happens. True story similar to yours that happened to me with a DIFFERENT ending: The other day, I was in at a grocery store. A very pretty girl behind me was acting "entitled" that i should let her go in front of me because she only had one single item. I could see her trying to get my attention so I would let her jump in front of me. But I didn't. All i could think about was the number of times I do people favors and NEVER get anything in return for it. Secondly i dont like people who TRY TO FORCE you to do stuff just because THEY are in a hurry. THATS THEIR problem. For some reason she had only ONE item but refused to go to the "express" line. I was in the normal line and had like 25 items. I am sure she was likely in shock that I ignored her. All I could think about is something bad happening AFTER letting her go in front of me. Like MORE women asking to jump the line, etc. It's just not worth it. Anyway like i said, the odds are AGAINST you if you spend your life helping people. YOUR NEIGHBOR is a jackass that he COMPLETELY ignored you. HE IS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE who think they are "entitled" for help. THINK TWICE next time or don't complain when people defecate on your head again, and they will. You should become a cop because I DOUBT you would be treated like garbage again by anyone at least not directly to your face. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 12-11-2009 at 12:51 PM. |

I'm sorry but that is the most ignorant thing I have heard in a while. You could use some counseling or something, not good for you to have that much hate in your heart.

You didn't even give him any advice. you handed out advice to someone else who never asked for it. The thread isn't about me, it's about the sad fact that humanity has turned into complete garbage. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 12-12-2009 at 12:05 PM. |

Well may parents were big believers in the golden rule, i.e, treating people how you would like to be treated. That being said, doing that makes me feel better. Sure a thank you or some gesture would be nice and probabaly expected, but if it doesn't come it really doesn't get to me. I just shrug if off and go about my way feeling a little better than I did. I sort of do small nice gestures for people for sort of a selfish reason anyway you could say. I do it because it makes ME fell better. If I've had a crappy day and am feeling grumpy, I find that going a little out of my way to hold the door for someone, or timing my walk to the store so I can offer to walk their just-emptied shopping cart back up to the store or to the cart return (where it can't blow into someone's new Camaro
) can quickly turn my bad mood around warming my heart a little and put a smile back on my face. And when someone is rude and lets a door slam in my face or whatever, I try to keep in mind that they must be really miserable and unhappy people with no joy in their life and little or no prospect of feeling any better anytime soon. You almost have to feel sorry for them then. Sort of like that old thing about being part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. So to the OP, here is a THANK YOU from me in lieu of your unhappy and sad neighbor. Think of how many people here now think highly of you for doing what you did! Giving is all the more meaniful if there is some sacrifice on the giver's part. Last edited by MLL67RSSS; 12-14-2009 at 11:05 AM. Reason: typo |

At least you know where he lives, and what goes around comes around, he'll need someones help again, one day.
I used to have a neighbour similar to that, and without getting into the details, one winter he couldn't get out of his driveway because of all the snow. I got out of mine just fine, I have a snowblower, and I even did my other neighbour's driveway, as he has even helped me shovel my driveway, without asking. Stick to your morals, they will overcome anyone and/or anything, it reflects on your up bringing... |

Don't give up on your good deeds. That guy is a dirtbag and its his problem. Some people are just rude.
Don't do good deeds because you are expecting a thanks or acknowledgement, but do it because its the right thing to do. Good things will come to you, because a positive attitude will carry you far in life. Your original thought was the best and selfless act of the story.
