Ive always preferred the flat black/vinyl look to the painted on/glossy look. Alot of people have this fascination for paint because then you cant feel the stripes. To which I say, who cares if you can feel the stripes?

I would imagine that after a coat of wax the vinyl stripes will shine up some. I'm ordering with the stripes and if/when they fade and peel i'll get new ones painted on.

I had the same decision to make in May of this year. I went with the loaded 2LT. It is easier to "live with" for the long term. Yes, the 1SS is fun to show off it's V8 power with some awsome burnouts, or it's 1.3 sec's faster to 60 mph, but I went with 2LT because of the overall lower cost to buy, own, fuel consumption, insurance cost, tire replacement, etc. Hope this helped....Don't get me wrong though, I'd buy one of EACH if I could!
