(both of our other DD's have it, and we have two 7 mile stretches of two lane with Semi's on the road. so it's more annoying than you would think to have to mash the gas & brake (first world problems, right?) it's a few hours a day, and Adaptive cruise control is right beside Beer & Pizza for best invention ever.

I have friend looking for Camaro, he is leaning toward a ZL1 convertible.
but he will get bored with it in 6 months (he hates playing "garage tetris" to get a car out, and he has a tiny drive way.

if he wants to dump that ZL1 cheap in a few months.
should I sell my 1SS and buy his ZL1 just for the 2SS stuff?
I will probably keep a camaro convertible for the rest of my life, so the ZL1 could be more of a collector it.

IDC about the ZL1, I don't need 650hp on tap. i got two $1000 tickets in one stop in my pickup.

do all ZL1's have the 2SS luxury package of heated/cooled seats, Adaptive Cruise, and side-scan radar (you don't realize how much you depend on that either)

back on this thread: I think my 4th Gen was more comfortable than my 6th Gen.'
I am taking the Run Flats off soon to see how much that helps.
if my 6th Gen SS runs over a penny, my wife tells me if it was heads or tails.
its a stiff ride.
Regular tires will ride much better than run flats. You'll notice the difference immediately.

Love the concept but I thought it was an odd choice to have them stock on the LT1, especially given the higher price vs regular tires. A bit sketchy during a heavy rain too.

Thank you all for the insights! I think I'm just going to wait until a Gen 6 ZL1 is a viable upgrade financially, and short term grab the Mamo Motorsports throttle body for my Gen 6 1SS to add some "newness" to it.

That LSA is such a cool engine, though. Even stock the exhaust sounds fantastic.

I'm going to say this as nicely as I can...

Coming from someone who was a previous owner of a vehicle that utilized the chassis that the 5th gen rides on, F U C K the Zeta platform. I don't care what vehicle rides on it (GTO, 5th gen Camaro etc) it absolutely sucks and I personally would never own any vehicle that rides on that chassis ever again.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Alpha chassis when I first tried it out on a rental 6th gen and I continue to be pleasantly surprised with its capabilities to this day.

I'm older, wiser, and more bitter about my past purchases now. Take what I said with a grain of salt if you feel compelled to do so, as my opinion is my own after all and it's not my intention to bash on others rides, rather just to share my own. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

This book will answer your question: https://a.co/d/02IPNlaf

Great info on why the alpha chassis is great engineering. I would not pay $130 or whatever Amazon has it listed at, I think I got my copy on the web somewhere for $30ish.

- 5th gen Camaro ZL1. A great looking muscle car, better looking than the 6th gen Camaro SS, way better rear seat space, the 6th gen rear seat is useless for adults. Very strong 580 hp SC engine but heavy. I compared it to a C7 Corvette Z51 460 HP both felt similarly fast because the Stingray was lighter and more aerodinamic. Very rare to see a ZL1 in the street, base Camaros are everywhere. The ZL1 was an attention getter, even people asked me to open the hood to see the engine.
-6th gen Camaro, the best designed generation, very light and a great handling car because of its Alpha chassis. If you like the driving of a BMW M sport car, you will love the 6th gen Camaro SS, very common to see them in the street, unless is a ZL1 or SS1LE. For looks, strong powertrain, better rear seat, and resale value: the 5th gen ZL1.
For a very well-balanced sport car: the 6th gen Camaro.

I agree with Boss' opinion on the 5th Gen ZL1. I really enjoyed mine. I'll add that the 5th ZL1 has more of a modern muscle car look and feel, and as noted, the 6th is more of a refined sports car.

OP, I'd say you should drive a 5th ZL1 if you can, because the chassis difference WITH the mag-ride is pretty impressive, especially compared to the Zeta platform without mag-ride. It's not a 6th gen, but it's really quite good given the heft of the 5th gen.

All of that said, the 6th ZL1 is awesome, but it just depends on what you want. My 5th ZL1 with around 700rwhp was a lot of fun, got compliments everywhere I took it, and sounded awesome with minimal mod investment. The stock NPP on the 5th ZL1 is amazing- much better than the suitcase on the 6th gens. It would definitely feel unimpressive to you at the stock power rating, so if it were me I'd plan on some mods if you go that route.

If I had to choose between a 5th ZL1 and a 6th ZL1, having owned both... I'd be hard pressed to choose. I'd want both.

I say go for the 6gen ZL1, Glow01! You won’t regret it. Good luck.
